    Toyota Car Guide

    TOYOTAOverview

Toyota has long maintained a reputation for producing solid and efficient vehicles in all classes. To every model, Toyota brings acute attention to intuitive operation, a quiet and comfortable interior, high fuel economy, and meticulous powertrains.

    NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    Reliability

Toyota has produced some of the most reliable vehicles ever made from the giant Toyota Land Cruiser SUV to the compact Toyota Yaris hatchback. The Toyota Camry continues to be at the top of the midsize sedan market. The Toyota Corolla provides a reliable balance of performance and economy, and the Toyota Tacoma is a reliably solid, durable and rugged pickup truck. Almost every year since 1990, Toyota has won the J.D. Power and Associates Quality Award for the fewest issues reported per 100 drivers within the first three months of purchase. Nearly every year between 2000 and 2016, Toyota won the J.D. Power Dependability Award for the fewest issues reported by 100 drivers over the previous 12 months with a Toyota vehicle three years old.

    Innovation

Toyota is always looking ahead to see what new driver needs and technological solutions are coming down the pike. Consider 2019 as an example. The 2019 Toyota Avalon is a sedan with a V-6 3.5-liter engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2019 Toyota Corolla gives you a choice of engines and transmissions in a sedan or hatchback body. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 is the brand's biggest four-door, five-seat SUV, yet it features optional all-wheel drive, a 2.5-liter engine and an eight-speed automatic or CVT transmission.

    Safety

Toyota vehicles all tend to carry stellar safety ratings. The Toyota Corolla hybrid, for one, comes standard with many advanced safety features such as Toyota Safety Connect, an emergency communications access system, the Safety Sense 2.0 suite with a built-in traffic sign reader, lane-keeping assistant and forward-collision warning equipped with automatic emergency braking. Even without these features, most Toyota vehicles come with LED headlights with automatic high beams, a rearview camera, alloy wheels, keyless entry, and ignition or other basic safety technologies.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    Comfort Concerns

Some Toyota models, though not all, are less comfortable than they could be. The seats in the Toyota GR Supra are fine for short rides but can get uncomfortable for long ones. The front passenger seat in the Toyota RAV4 is likewise not as comfortable as some may desire.

    Engine Lag

Some Toyota models are not as strong on power as they are on safety and reliability. Models like the Toyota Corolla hybrid and Toyota Prius can accelerate a little sluggishly. The powertrain on the Toyota RAV4 somewhat underperforms.

    Not the Smoothest Ride

Some Toyota models are reported as riding slightly too choppy, like the Toyota 4Runner. Other Toyota models are reported as riding slightly stiff, like the Toyota Tundra. The Toyota Sienna, meanwhile, lets a bit more road and wind noise through than it seems it should.
