    Tesla Model 3 Car Guide

    TESLA MODEL 3Overview

The 2019 Tesla Model 3 is the smaller, cheaper, and flashier younger brother to the Model S and Model X. Since its first announcement and well before it hit the market, the Model 3 quickly had a record number of reservations from eager customers. Tesla has completely led the electric car revolution in recent years, and the Tesla Model 3 is one of the most sought-after fully electric car models available.

    NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    High Performance

It's no secret in the automotive industry that electric vehicles tend to lean toward high performance, and the Tesla Model 3 is no exception. The single-motor model offers rear-wheel drive while the dual-engine model offers a well-handled all-wheel drive. The beauty of driving the Tesla Model 3, similar to the other Tesla models, is the instant torque the electric motor provides. Smooth and quiet, the instant torque allows the Model 3 to accelerate from 0-60 mph in an impressive 3.2 seconds. The Model 3 also has an impressive range of 310 miles between charges.

    Interior and Technology

The aesthetically pleasing, minimalist design makes the Tesla truly look like a car of the future. Gone are the multitude of buttons and knobs that clutter the dashboard of most vehicles. Instead, the Tesla Model 3 has a mostly blank dashboard. It sports a single, long air vent and a 15-inch touch-screen tablet that acts as a navigation device while also controlling everything else in the vehicle. Both the front and rear seats are spacious and comfortable.

    Safety First

The Tesla Model 3 is one of the highest-rated vehicles ever tested by the NHTSA. They have an overall rating of five stars in safety for the driver seat, passenger seat, rear seats, and the rollover test. The frame is made for strength using aluminum and steel. The roof is completely made of glass, but it is still able to resist up to four times the Model 3's mass. This is about the same weight as two large elephants.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    Touch Screen Distractions

While the 15-inch touch screen is great because everything is controlled from it, it can be a bit distracting. It requires you to take your eyes off the road long enough to navigate the menu and adjust things when needed. This is the only thing that makes physical buttons slightly missed. It's harder to change settings without looking with only a touch screen.

    Missing Integrations

The Tesla Model 3 gets high marks for the touch-screen navigation along with the traffic-aware cruise control autopilot system. However, the lack of integration with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is unfortunate. Even something as simple as plugging in an iPhone fails to bring up the music library on the car's touch screen. The port is for charging only. The only option to stream audio is through the Bluetooth.

    Voice Control Difficulties

There have been some reports of the voice recognition not being able to understand the names of contacts very well. Often, the voice control on your smartphone is superior.
