- James C.JUL 21, 20222019 Honda CR-VChicago, ILIn the current unique climate around used car buying/selling post-pandemic, a mechanic friend of mine advised me to skip sailing seas of private sellers and go with a Carmax or Carvana. While the whole idea of having a car delivered to your door with no test drive seemed crazy to me at first, I found Carvana's site to be more user-friendly vs Carmax, the selection was better, and they have really boiled down the process to a science. There were a few hiccups in the delivery process (no fault of Carvana's - just transpo/freight issues that plague us all currently), but when the car arrived, Stefan (the knowledgeable and polite delivery guy) was super-patient when I had an insurance wrinkle. He stuck around for the better part of an hour while I worked it all out. Since Carvana gives you a generous 7-day window to return the vehicle - no questions asked - I took it in to my local shop the day after delivery for inspection. After putting it on a lift, the guys at the shop said: "it's rare we see a used vehicle in such pristine condition. No error codes -- green across the board." But this time, the car wasn't clean, the last who did the drop off was great but I thought she was supposed to come like Santa. But no gifts, no goodies, just paperwork. I was told by a rep if it got delayed I'd get compensated for the delays. What a coincidence that on the third delay all of a sudden the policy changed. With the second delay they were supposed to call me to reschedule a delivery time since it didn't arrive at 9am. Nobody called, I had to find out by calling in myself. They never changed the date my vehicle was actually delivered. They still marked it being delivered on the 7th rather than the 8th. Maybe to avoid compensation for the time wasted. I called off work twice and went in late for the third day. When calling in to discuss my frustration, the phone rep asked what I did for work. After telling her I worked for a cellphone company she decided to then ask me stuff about her phone bill. Once I finally got my car delivered , the delivery person was super nice. She was super nice and friendly. I thought the nightmare was over but no. The people with lemon tech came to install a license plate bracket on my vehicle. Called me at 7am saying they could be here within an hour. I wanted my license plate to the side. Unfortunately when I got the call that he was outside , he had already drilled 3 holes for the bracket on my bumper. So he had already started touching my car without me being there. When I told him I wanted it to the side , he kept trying to justify that what I wanted was stupid. I kept having to explain to him that they make a front tow hook license plate bracket and he kept saying "nobody has their plates like that. They don't make that" And when calling in to the manager just to inform her (very calmly I may add) that her employees should wait until the customer is outside or at least ask if they may start with the process. I just said I wanted to bring it up to her attention and that's all. She responded by laughing at me and saying that I can't request where I want it or if I wanted it with or without glitter. That's when I lost it. On top of that I paid for extra warranty. Yet things I'd like to get checked out apparently might not even be covered and it'll be depending on the repair company. So what a waste. The speakers on my vehicle are blown out. I love my vehicle , I rather have the imperfections fixed than having to try to find a whole new one. But this is the first and only time I will go through carvana. The experience has been nothing but an anxious journey for me. And the lemon tech company they work with is a joke.Read More4.0 OUT OF 5

It's normally not an enjoyable experience- the haggling, feeling like a piece of meat in a Lions den, going back and forth with numbers (I've been horrible at math all of my life!) to a lot of times end up paying something that wasn't anticipated, trying to be influenced to get something you didn't want, the rudeness that is sometimes encountered, and the endless hours sitting in the dealership. Carvana eliminated ALLLLLLL OF THAT!!!! It was so simple to get on the app/computer, create an account and browse on YOUR TIME AND TERMS! I could browse at my leisure and save my favorites and got pre approved while being able to pick my down payment. I wasn't harassed and was able to reach out to someone if I WANTED OR NEEDED. I was only reached out to, to get help with using the app or a representative offering to add vehicles within the parameters I specified. There were so many QUALITY vehicles and the ability to look at the carfax, so nothing is hidden from you! The approval process through the app was extremely simple and almost seemed TOO EASY; I kept waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop out and say that I was being punked……. He still hasn't appeared! Lol I got approved, chose my car according to my terms, applied, got approved, chose a date for pickup, went to Carvana, showed my insurance and ID, signed paperwork, got my Carvana Car Coin, put it in the machine and watched my beautiful new car come down in the most magical way possible. I almost cried. My 6 year old and I were on the bus and rentals or walking and this was a prayer answered. The next day I even got an email from my new car and a congratulations email that came with a link for me to post online to have my friends celebrate with me. Thank y'all sooooooooooo much!!!!!
