Honda has only made one minivan model in the past 25 years. The Honda Odyssey is a three-row minivan that has been in production since 1995. Since 2018, you can get the Odyssey in either a seven-passenger or eight-passenger configuration. Known for comfort, safety, and convenience, the Honda Odyssey is available in five or six trim levels, depending on the model year.
In the fourth generation, Honda lowered its roofline and widened the vehicle to give a sleeker appearance. The Honda Odyssey comes standard with all-season tires, 18-inch painted alloy wheels, a choice of eight exterior colors, and daytime running lights on the mid-level EX model. With the 2018 model year, the Odyssey's 3.5-liter V-6 engine was improved to deliver 280 horsepower compared with the previous model's 248 horsepower.
In later models, the Honda Odyssey has standard AM/FM stereo, a USB connection, seven total speakers, climate control, audio controls on the steering wheel, power windows, and power door locks on the base EX model. Higher trim levels offer leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an upgraded navigation system, premium audio, a rear-seat entertainment system, and keyless ignition. All of these features come standard on the Touring Elite model of the Odyssey. Beginning in the 2014 model year, the Odyssey offered a built-in vacuum cleaner that could reach the entirety of the interior cabin.
A used Honda minivan is designed to provide lots of space for all three rows of passengers. In the 2018 model year, the front row provides up to 38.7 inches of headroom and up to 40.9 inches of legroom. On the second row, the Odyssey provides up to 39.2 inches of headroom and 40.9 inches of legroom. Finally, cargo space is excellent with up to 155.8 cubic feet of space behind the first row.
Like all minivans, the Odyssey has a large footprint that can make it difficult to drive and to park. Higher trim levels do offer blind spot and lane departure warnings as well as front and rear parking sensors.
Although the Odyssey features fold-flat seats to maximize cargo room, it does not offer power-folding seats, which is available in other vehicles in its class. While the third row has straps, the second-row seats can be difficult to maneuver. Removing the second-row seat can be especially cumbersome.
Unlike many other minivans, the Honda Odyssey does not offer surround-view cameras. The second-row seats have large headrests that can obstruct rear visibility while the windshield pillars can obstruct front visibility. Drivers will need to use extra caution when driving the Honda Odyssey.
