I was very skeptical to try Carvana, which I noted to the first customer service representative I spoke to the very first time I called. I am a skeptic by nature. Carvana put my skepticism to rest by providing an incredibly transparent process, wherein I was kept in the loop about 95% of the time. I experienced 2 hiccups in the process:
1) For a day, my car was unregistered to me in the reservation process, which was quickly rectified with a call. While this seems like a minor issue, if that particular car had been snatched up before I could re-reserve it, I would have probably shopped elsewhere.
2) No one was assigned to deliver my vehicle, causing it to be an hour late. I had made dinner plans with my girlfriend, which were interrupted by this mistake. Despite what was becoming a bad experience, Carvana made it up to me 10 fold by providing me with a few prepaid cards in order to permit she and I to go out to dinner on them. That changed my attitude 180 degrees. I get it, everyone is human, we're all prone to make mistakes, but having the ability to make it right is what's really important. Carvana does just that.
3) (I know, I said 2) I found a little bit of a lapse of communication between my loan officer and the Carvana team caused a couple of hiccups, which were in-line to delay my vehicle delivery date by 2 days (which would have interfered with the private sale of my vehicle that was set to take place the day after the original delivery date). However, I do not blame Carvana OR my credit union for the communication errors, as again, we are all human and it happens. That having been said, Carvana worked hard to get my car to me on time and they were successful. The only reason I'm adding this note in here is because I believe my experience isn't unique, and improvements can probably be made into the communication tactics between buyer/seller, bank/credit union, and Carvana.
Thank you to the super friendly staff who greeted me and helped me every time I called, from my first inquiry to my post-purchase questions. This experience has ABSOLUTELY changed my mind about buying a vehicle online, and I could not be happier with my car. Unless maybe it was Bugatti at the same price.
My original rating was 4/5 stars, but I got to thinking about the fact that you guys don't have delivery or dealership fees. That's worth at least 2 stars, I'd give you 6/5 if I could.
Seriously though, thank you to the Carvana team for all your hard work. You guys rock. 5/5 stars, still better than any dealership.
