I stumbled across Carvana while beginning to look for a good used vehicle. I was impressed with the prices and I dislike being sold a product, but I do like to buy. The Carvana website was simple to use and all the information was provided was very good.
Several years ago, I purchased a vehicle online, so the thought of purchasing a vehicle without seeing it was not new to me. Knowing Carvana would deliver it, give me a test drive and take it back if I did not like it was a bonus. Added to that, the 7 day test drive was part of the buying process helped to seal the deal.
Once my family and I decided on a car, the purchase process was simple as we designed the payment and other financials. I did make a phone call or two to ask some questions to a live person.
The purchase process took about 20 minutes to walk through very simply. There were no added features to the contract we did not want and everything was simple to understand. Once again I was buying the vehicle, not being sold a vehicle.
Our problem arose when we scheduled the delivery of the car then received an email the vehicle could not be deliverd due to a recall. I was informed it would be another month (or more) until the recall would be handled and then the vehicle delivered to me. Honestly, this was annoying. After a few phone calls and emails, the agents asked me if there was another vehicle we liked, but it had been pulled because of a recall as well.
To purchase a vehicle, schedule delivery and then be informed the car is not available for a month or more is annoying. I was not very happy going through the recall process. I understand that Carvana did not recall the vehicle, but they had it listed for sale. The vehicle was found to have a recall during the final inspection before delivery.
The month wait never happened, the car was delivered in about two weeks. The delivery team was excellent and answered every question I had at the time. I went for a test drive, signed the paper work and was off to purchasing the vehicle.
When we received our vehicle, I did notice there were a few inside scratches and bruise that were not visible in the photos online. Once again it is a used vehicle, so there will be those markings, but the pictures could have been a little more clearer.
Pros:
- Simple process without being sold. (No hassle)
- Great prices.
- Great website with customizable features
- Good communication process
- Great delivery system and team
- Test drive at your house in your environment
- 7 Day Test Drive (evaluation process)
- Simple paperwork process during delivery
- Nice gift bag after purchase
Cons:
- For me, our little recall issue.
- Pictures of the inside could have been more clearer of the inside scratches. (They were not visible on the online photos)
- I received a gift card for a tank of gas from Carvana and the gift card company was annoying to deal with on the phone.
Overall, the process was simple, fun and great to use. I would, and already have, recommended Carvana to several people. My family is pleased with our purchase and look forward to wearing this vehicle out.
FYI: We purchased a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES
