Overview2016 JEEP RENEGADE

The Italian-styled 2016 Jeep Renegade is a five-passenger sport utility crossover initially offered in four versions. The stylish SUV gives Jeep drivers power behind the wheel and also lends itself to those that need a practical, reliable SUV for everyday driving. The Renegade is also affordable and fuel-efficient. If you love Jeep but need a vehicle that's easy to drive and offers great technology, you'll be impressed with what the Renegade has to offer.

Exciting New Features

The 2016 Renegade includes more options and features than its immediate predecessor. New features added to the 2016 model include rain-sensing windshield wipers, a multi-speaker Beats audio system, and new exterior and interior color choices.

Enhanced Off-Road Capabilities

Even at the entry-level, the Renegade comes with features that will fulfill any Jeep driver's need for dexterity on and off the road. To satisfy Jeep drivers, the Renegade is created with a disconnecting axle and over 8 inches of increased clearance space. The unique tires and wheels allow the Renegade to drive in and out-of-town and also give it the freedom to leave the open road if you choose. The 2016 Renegade features Jeep's Active Low with 20:1 rock crawl mode, which improves off-road adventuring. The Rock Crawl Mode is offered in the Trailhawk model Renegades.

My Sky Removable Panels

By far, the Renegade's most unique feature is the removable My Sky panels. The roof panels can be removed easily and allow you to bring the outdoors inside the vehicle, getting you closer to the original open-air Jeep experience. If you prefer greater climate control inside the vehicle, roof panels can also be permanently installed.

Automatic Transmission Might Not Be for Everybody

The Renegade is created with a nine-ratio automatic transmission. Drivers have noted that the transmission type can be clunky at times. It often changes gears too soon, and the shift may be too abrupt and create a jolt or might be too stretchy and create a lag. While this may make it less competitive for city drivers than other models in its class, such as the Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V, the Jeep Renegade excels by far in off-road capabilities.

Thick Windshield Pillars Decrease Visibility

Jeep added thick windshield pillars to the 2016 Renegade to protect drivers and passengers when they go off-road. While this adds safety to the adventurous driver and passengers in a roll-over accident, for everyday driving, the thick pillars might be overkill and affect visibility at times.

Loud Road Noise On- and Off-Road

The subcompact utility vehicle is also known for being noisy. Wind and road noise can be heard inside the vehicle and could be bothersome to some drivers or passengers. Extra wind noise comes in part from the removable roof panels and would be lessened if the panels were permanently installed.
