Overview2015 HONDA PILOT

The Honda Pilot can accommodate up to eight adult passengers in its three rows of seats. The roomy and comfortable interior features a spacious cargo bay whose capacity can be further augmented by folding the back seats flat. The Honda Pilot SUV is available in five trim levels, and its standard features include keyless entry, cruise control, a rearview camera, and full Bluetooth capabilities. All 2015 Honda Pilot models are equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and feature an automatic transmission. The option to upgrade to four-wheel drive is available at all trim levels.

Driver and Passenger Comfort

Standard comfort features on the Honda Pilot LX include rear privacy glass, automated climate control, an adjustable driver seat, split-folding third-row seats, and sliding and reclining seats in the second row. The EX trim level adds a power driver seat with lumbar adjustment. The four-wheel drive EX trim level introduces heated mirrors, and the SE trim level enhances the set of comfort options with a sunroof. The EX-L adds a multi-setting front passenger seat, upgraded upholstery, front seat climate control, and a steering wheel with a leather cover. The top-of-the-line Touring trim adds second-row sunshades and dual parking sensors to the feature set.

Cargo Space

The Honda Pilot offers a generous amount of storage when the back rows of seats are folded down. The square shape of the cargo area is an advantage when loading and unloading. The cargo area is equipped with a hinged window that opens separately, which allows for easier loading and stowing of long items. The Honda Pilot creates additional storage space behind the back row and offers several interior bins and pockets for storage of small items.

Onboard Entertainment

Entry-level equipment includes an eight-inch display screen, a seven-speaker sound system, a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, and an iPod/USB audio interface. The SE trim level introduces an enhanced entertainment center for the rear seat. An optional navigation system on the EX-L may be installed in place of the back-seat entertainment package and adds voice controls, tuning technology, and several gigabytes of onboard digital storage. The Touring model introduces a 10-speaker sound system and offers the option to install the navigation and entertainment systems simultaneously but not separately.

Advanced Driver Systems

Although the Honda Pilot offers a solid ride, it does not provide driver-assistance features like keyless ignition, lane-departure alerts, and blind-spot warning systems. None of the models offer emergency handling or accident prevention technologies.

Acceleration and Fuel Economy

The zero-to-60 acceleration tends to be slower than average for comparable models. The combined EPA estimates of 21 mpg for front-wheel-drive models and 20 mpg for four-wheel-drive Pilots are just about average for this vehicle type.

Feature Availability

Some features, such as voice controls and sunroof, are only available at the upper trim levels. Other features, such as navigation and back seat entertainment on the EX-L, are mutually exclusive and cannot be added concurrently.
