Overview2016 HONDA ACCORD
The 2016 Honda Accord is a popular midsize sedan. It seats five adults in space and comfort. The Accord comes with front-wheel drive in either coupe or sedan body styles. The standard engine is a four-cylinder unit, but a V6 is optional.
PerformanceDrivers looking for a midsize sedan may not expect to find a sporty vehicle, but the 2016 Honda Accord excels in this area. The standard engine is a 185 horsepower, four-cylinder unit that is peppy and responsive. The optional V6 engine is more powerful at 278 horsepower. There is even an optional manual transmission with the V6 engine. The Accord's handling has also been praised.
Fuel EconomyThe Honda Accord combines sporty performance with excellent fuel economy. The EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings with the four-cylinder engine come in at 27 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. The EPA-estimated ratings with the V6 engine vary depending on which transmission is equipped. However, the max fuel efficiency ratings for the Accord with the V6 engine are 21 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.
Comfortable InteriorThe 2016 Honda Accord's interior has been praised for being both spacious and luxurious. Even the rear seats are comfortable for adults, especially in the sedan version of the Accord. The numerous luxury options available on the Accord include heated seats. Cloth upholstery is standard, but premium leather upholstery is available.
Infotainment SystemThe Honda Accord does not have a standard infotainment system, but this system was optional on some models and standard on some premium models. The infotainment system in the Accord was not its best feature. Reviews noted that changing audio settings with the infotainment system's touchscreen can be quite difficult. It is important to note, however, that changing the audio settings with traditional buttons and knobs was much easier, especially while driving.
Average ReliabilityThe 2016 Honda Accord received an average reliability score from J.D. Power. Obviously, this is not a prohibitively low rating. However, it should be noted that many of the Accord's competitors in the midsize sedan class receive excellent reliability ratings. It is also important for prospective Accord buyers to get a full maintenance history that shows that the vehicle has been carefully maintained.
Cost of OwnershipThe Honda Accord has a cost of ownership that puts it right in the middle of the pack for the midsize sedan class. Cost of ownership takes into account insurance, gas, maintenance, and repairs. Some of the very top entries in the midsize sedan class, while lagging behind the Accord in other areas, do have lower ownership costs. Of course, cost of ownership is just an estimate and will not be accurate for every driver.
