Overview2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX
The well-proportioned Chevrolet Equinox crossover SUV offers a spacious reclining back seat and a quiet ride even on rough roads. Its L, LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder six-speed automatic transmission, which may be upgraded to a 3.6-liter V6 engine on the LT and LTZ models. For the 2016 models, Chevy redesigned the Equinox's front end and included automatic headlights. All models feature a 7-inch touchscreen interface, a rearview camera and antilock disc brakes.
Smooth and Comfortable RideThe L and LS models are equipped with premium cloth upholstery, driver seat height and lumbar adjustments, and a rear seat that slides and reclines for comfort. Since the 2016 Equinox comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, you can expect a smooth and stable ride over a variety of surfaces. While the LS is equipped with upgraded 17-inch wheels, the LT introduces heated mirrors and rear privacy glass. The LTZ model adds heated front seats, driver memory settings, an eight-setting power driver seat and automatic climate control to the ample set of comfort features. The LT and LTZ feature an optional sunroof.
Multiple Safety and Security FeaturesWith features like projector-beam headlights, traction control and a rearview camera, the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox is pretty safe. All models feature front-seat side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags, automatic crash notification, an emergency assistance button, and stolen vehicle assistance. LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert are available on the LT and LTZ models. The LTZ is also equipped with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and can be provisioned with forward-collision alert and a lane departure warning system. A towing package is optional for the LS, LT, and LTZ models.
Advanced Technology IntegrationStandard equipment on all models include a trip computer, in-car 4G WiFi hotspot, touchscreen interface, six-speaker sound system, USB port and auxiliary audio input jack. The LT and LTZ models feature Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. In addition to the standard features, the LS is equipped with a compass and a satellite radio. The Equinox LT is equipped with an audio system and interface that feature Bluetooth audio connectivity, voice controls and smartphone integration for some radio apps. The LTZ adds remote start to this already solid feature set.
Engine AccelerationEquinox models that have a four-cylinder engine accelerate a bit slower than average for this type of vehicle. However, the 0-60 mph acceleration for an Equinox with a V6 engine is an impressive half-second faster than the average for comparable models.
Fuel EconomyThe EPA estimate of 26 mpg for front-wheel drive and 23 mpg for all-wheel drive has not been consistently confirmed, particularly for expressway driving. Models that are equipped with a V6 engine show a drop in fuel economy in exchange for faster acceleration.
Bluetooth ConnectivityIn spite of its advanced technology interface, the Equinox L and LS models are equipped with Bluetooth phone connectivity but do not have Bluetooth audio capability. Furthermore, the touchscreen is sometimes slow to respond and process touch inputs.
