Overview2015 Acura TLX
The 2015 Acura TLX is a midsize, luxury sedan that's perfect for individuals looking to combine fuel efficiency with style. As the debut model for the TLX series, Acura aimed to make a good first impression by filling the vehicle with a powerful engine and high-end technology. From a sleek outside appearance to luxury inside trim, the 2015 Acura TLX is an affordable, yet reliable, upscale sedan.
Quiet and Comfortable CabinRight away, you'll notice the roomy and comfortable cabin of the 2015 Acura TLX. In fact, these features can make the TLX perfect for long commutes. The cabin blocks out much of the outside noise that you usually hear during highway driving. When you combine this with a smooth ride and super handling all-wheel drive, it's easy to see why the 2015 Acura TLX is both comfortable and fun to drive.
Fuel EfficiencyDespite featuring a powerful V6 engine, the 2015 Acura TLX offers fantastic fuel efficiency for its size. Part of the reason is that the vehicle has an eight or nine-speed automatic transmission depending on the model. Also, it features Honda's variable cylinder management system, which only uses three cylinders during low-load driving. As a result, this car can achieve 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.
Dual-Interface ControlsThe dual-interface control system in the Acura TLX sits in a vertical layout on the dash. The lower component features a touch screen that allows you to control climate and audio settings. The upper portion features knobs and physical buttons that manage navigation. You can also use these physical buttons to control the audio settings if you wish.
Safety and EquipmentThe 2015 Acura TLX comes standard with anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, and head and side protection airbags. However, automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning systems weren't standard in the 2015 model. They didn't become standard features until 2018, so some 2015 models lack these features.
Sport Plus ModeThe vehicle's transmission features a Sport Plus mode that boosts performance. In this mode, downshifts are much swifter, and the car stays in lower gears longer in order to keep the engine in that sweet spot of power. However, the 2015 Acura TLX doesn't have a turbocharged engine, which gives it slightly underwhelming power compared to similar luxury cars.
Reliability RatingAccording to a J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study, the 2015 Acura TLX has a slightly lower-than-average reliability rating compared to other luxury sedans in its class. The organization gave it two out of five ratings. One reason was because of three safety recalls, which have been fixed in most preowned 2015 Acura TLX vehicles. All of the recalls were corrected free of charge at Honda dealerships.
