    Ford Fusion Car Guide

    Ford FusionOverview

At its debut, the Ford Fusion was nothing less than a landmark car for the company. With the Fusion, Ford once again had a strong midsize sedan contender, something it hadn't fielded since the first-generation Taurus that debuted in the mid-1980s. Savvy consumers have taken notice of the Fusion's spacious cabin, responsive driving dynamics, solid build quality and attractive styling. Discover the ins and out on used Ford Fusions, available now in Carvana's inventory.

    NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    Variety Of Fuel-Efficient Turbocharged Engines

The Fusion offers a wide variety of trim and engine options for car buyers. Standard with the Fusion S and SE is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 175 horsepower. However, specifically for the SE model, three different engine options exist: a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder producing 182 hp (available in manual transmission only), a similarly-sized 1.5-liter four-cylinder producing 181 (matched to a six-speed automatic transmission), and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder capable of producing 240 hp. The Fusion also boasts solid fuel economy, as the base 2.5-liter gets 26 mpg combined, while the other engine types hover around 29 mpg combined.

    High-Tech Technology and Safety Features

Though it doesn't qualify as a luxury sedan, the Fusion's technology and safety offerings are on par with just about anything you'll find in the luxury segment. From blind-spot monitoring, to adaptive cruise control, to automatic parallel parking, the Fusion delivers. There's also the MyFord Touch infotainment interface, which comes optional with the vehicle. With an eight-inch touchscreen that's backed by voice commands, the MyFord Touch can be a great tool for configuring and controlling both the car and your smartphone.

    Sharp Handling, Composed Ride

There's a certain comfort and structural reassurance that seemingly comes with every Fusion. The standard electronic power steering makes for an enjoyable ride, as the handling is nimble, yet doesn't feel over-assisted. When on the freeway, road noise fades away, while the comfortable seating up front further adds to the Fusion's satisfying ride.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    MyFord Touch

Though there are some definite benefits to the MyFord Touch infotainment interface, it can take a little while to get accustomed to when performing even the most basic of functions. Additionally, it can be a bit sluggish at times, making it a very functional yet frustrating interface to use.

    Turbocharged Engines

It should be noted that the engine options available on the Fusion are very competitive with rivals in this segment, such as Chevrolet and Honda, however it doesn't necessarily blow your hair back when it comes to overall performance.

    Sight Lines And Headroom

The sloping rear window in the Fusion does make observing your rear surroundings a bit difficult, though the presence of a rearview camera that comes standard helps increase rear visibility. Also, the roof's rearward slope somewhat limits the available headroom in the backseat, however it's not a significant enough gamechanger to negatively impact passengers who are of average height.
