    Chevy Traverse Car Guide

    CHEVY TRAVERSEOverview

In the mid-size, 3-row SUV world, they don't get more dashing than the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. In 2020, it's getting a 20-inch wheel option that rounds out the already stellar visual appeal of the mid-size SUV. Chevrolet finally responded to plays for more power by making the V6 engine option standard across all trims, so you'll have quite a bit of power.

    NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    Standard V6 Engine

The biggest news on the 2020 Traverse is that the previous RS model's turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is a thing of the past, and in its place is a 3.6L V6 engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. This new engine is standard on all trims of the Traverse, dishing out a burst of power good for 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. That's enough to net you a 5,000-pound towing capacity with plenty of power to spare for smoother acceleration than in years past. If you properly equip your Traverse, you'll also get Traction Mode Select, a high-tech tool that lets you choose your drive mode with the flip of a dial. Choose from front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, off-road, or tow/haul.

    Plushier Comfort

Soft to the touch materials in the interior of mid-size SUVs often make for a more pleasant drive. The 2020 Traverse features a much more cushiony interior, complete with 8-way power driver seat and perforated leather-appointed seat trim in sophisticated color options like Dark Atmosphere/Medium Ash Gray or Jet Black. Whether you pick two-tone or single-color interior options, you're going to feel the good old-fashioned relief of sinking down in a softer interior.

    Advanced Driver-Assist Technology

Driver-assist technology has always been a part of the Traverse's history, but in 2020, Chevy is ramping up the safety nets you have while driving. A rear-vision camera, rear-camera mirror, and available HD surround vision make for an impressive camera system on your Traverse. Enhanced automatic emergency braking is another standout feature. Enhanced braking means that not only will you be alerted if a forward-end collision is imminent, but your Traverse itself can adjust braking into a "hard brake" that can mitigate and lessen the severity of a crash.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    Pricey Optional Safety Features

A lot has been said about the Traverse keeping most advanced safety features as optional. This ramps the price up. For example, the High Country is the only trim that features adaptive cruise control, but it's an over-$50,000 option of the Traverse. If you want advanced features, prepare to pay.

    Placement of Interior Controls

While the plushy interior of the Traverse is commendable, you may find yourself stretching a bit to reach the controls. The interior panel itself could have been a little more upscale than they made it. You'll find some hard touch materials feel like plastic.

    Engine Start/Stop

Not everyone wants a start/stop feature on their engine, and most automakers allow you to disable this feature. On the Traverse, you won't be able to disable start/stop. If that's a problem, the Traverse might not be for you.
