    Chevrolet Tahoe Car Guide

    CHEVROLET TAHOEOverview

Since its introduction in 1995, the Chevrolet Tahoe has forged a reputation as one of the best-selling SUVs in the United States. Using a true truck chassis, the Tahoe has always been built for taking on virtually any type of terrain or driving condition. It has been a favorite among those who treasure a large and sturdy ride with lots of interior space.

    NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    User-Friendly Infotainment

Anchored with an 8-inch touchscreen, the Chevrolet Infotainment System on the Tahoe has a sterling reputation for being user-friendly. The large display presents graphics that are crisp to the eye, and it responds quickly to finger inputs. The 2016 and newer models have Apple CarPlay added along with Android Auto. That way, drivers can integrate iPhones as well as Android devices into the infotainment system.

    High Projected Reliability Rating

J.D. Power and Associates ranks each new vehicle according to projected reliability based on an evaluation of reports during the first 90 days of ownership. The Chevrolet Tahoe has consistently received no less than four Power Circles out of a possible five, thus making it among the best vehicles to choose in its class regarding long-term ownership with minimal or no major repairs and replacements.

    Large and Powerful Engine

The Chevrolet Tahoe has always had a variety of beefy and mighty workhorses under its hood. Most notable so far is the 6.2-liter V8, which Chevrolet introduced for the 2018 model year as an option to provide 420 horsepower. A 5.3-liter V8 has been around as the standard engine since the second production cycle.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    Third Row

As a full-size SUV, the Chevrolet Tahoe presents three rows of seats for standard eight-passenger capacity. The front row can be configured with a bench-style seat to maximize occupancy at nine people while the second row can have its bench-style seat swapped for a pair of captain's chairs to reduce capacity to seven. Unlike the front and second rows, the third row is non-configurable, and it is considerably smaller. The third row is ideal for smaller occupants or children rather than taller adults.

    Cargo Space

The Chevrolet Tahoe offers a standard cargo volume of 15.3 cubic feet, which is measured from the third row to the liftgate. The second- and third-row seats can be folded flat to increase cargo space to 94.7 cubic feet. Despite all this space, the Tahoe lags behind other vehicles in its class, such as the Ford Expedition and the Toyota Sequoia.

    Ride Quality

The Chevrolet Tahoe is a truck-like vehicle, which means that it doesn't necessarily place emphasis on smooth driving. Indeed, the drive can feel bumpy and turbulent with the standard suspension. For a more comfortable ride, you would need to get a model equipped with an optional Magnetic Ride Control or Air Ride Adaptive suspension, which adapts or adjusts in real time to changes in terrain. With these options, the Tahoe can get optimal shock damping to enhance the driving experience on less-than-smooth surfaces.
