    Nissan Maxima Car Guide

    Nissan MaximaOverview

The Maxima isn't like most other sedans you might be considering. It's sportier than the typical family sedan but is equipped and priced more like a large sedan. It could even be an option for an entry-level luxury car. As such, the Maxima is largely a niche offering, but it rarely fails to deliver. Discover the ins and outs on used Nissan Maximas, available now in Carvana's inventory.

    NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    Well-Made, Attractive Interior

After undergoing a redesign in 2016, the Nissan Maxima can now rightfully claim its place as the manufacturer's luxury leader. With a cabin area that features no shortage of high quality materials, the Maxima is more upscale than ever before. Additionally, Nissan's Zero Gravity seats make an appearance as well, offering quality support for front seat passengers on long road trips.

    Excellent Crash Scores

There's no question that the Maxima is a standout when it comes to safety. In government crash tests, the Maxima earned five out of five stars for overall safety. Furthermore, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Maxima top scores of Good in its impact tests, as well as its tests for side-impact, roof-strength, and seat/head restraint integrity. The Maxima even earned a score of Superior for its renowned forward collision mitigation system.

    Quality Driving Dynamics

While not quite as sporty as advertised, the Maxima isn't exactly a snooze behind the wheel either. The vehicle's steering is precise, and handling is composed and agile thanks to its sport-tuned suspension.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    No All-Wheel Drive Option Available

The title of this section really says it all. Though the Maxima offers plenty of creature comforts, it does not have an all-wheel drive option, giving some of its rivals in the segment a comparative leg up.

    Ride Quality

Outfit with sport-tuned suspension, the Maxima's SR model offers a relatively sporty ride. The downside, however, is that the ordinarily smooth, comfortable ride is replaced by one that is firm and a bit jarring when traveling over rough patches of road.

    Rear, Trunk Space

For all of its luxury offerings, the Maxima doesn't offer a ton in the way of room for its passengers and their gear. Front and rear space is acceptable enough, but stills falls short when measured against segment rivals. Moreover, the trunk space available measures out to be 14.3 cubic feet, which is smaller than what many midsize sedans offer, not mention full-size ones.
