Three available engines and six configurations mean it's easy to find an Elantra to suit your needs, whether that's you're focused on fuel economy or just something fun to drive. As for value, the Elantra doesn't deal in subtlety. The aptly named Value Edition, for example, comes standard with several desirable features, including a sunroof, keyless touch entry, hands-free trunk release, heated seats, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.     NOTEWORTHY FEATURES

    Trunk Space Aplenty

    Arguably one of the more appealing features on the Hyundai Elantra is the ample trunk space the vehicle provides. Specifically, the Elantra sedan features a trunk with a cargo capacity of 14.8 cubic feet; a generous number for the segment and enough space to comfortably fit three bags of golf clubs.

    Improved Sound Insulation

    What was once a notable complaint amongst Elantra owners is now a strength of this vehicle. Hyundai’s addition of more sound insulation to help suppress engine, tire, and road noise is a considerable improvement, making the Elantra one of the quieter vehicles in its segment.

    Quality Interior Features At A Value

    Across virtually all recent editions of the Elantra, the navigation system has been easy to use, offering large virtual buttons and an easy-to-use layout. Additionally, available in the Limited and Sport trims of the Elantra, is a 4.3-inch audio touchscreen interface that allows for a larger, more modern display than seen previously.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

    Headroom

    Though the Elantra offers a decent amount of space compared to other compact vehicles, headroom is one area where the Elantra falls a bit short. Up front, adults who are up to six feet in height may find their quarters to be a bit cramped. The same general sentiment applies to passengers in the back seat, where legroom is ample, but headroom is sparse.

    Acceleration

    The available 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine likely won’t be a hang up for too many folks who are in the market for an Elantra, though it should be noted that the response from the transmission when stepping on the accelerator can feel a bit tardy.

    Ride Quality

    A common complaint amongst drivers who get behind the wheel of an Elantra is the rather stiff ride quality that the vehicle provides. Particularly when going over broken pavement, the Elantra does not absorb bumps in the road all that well, making it feel unrefined compared to other makes and models in its class.
