Popularized by NASCAR dominance and later a hokey TV show, the Dodge Charger is one of America's most revered performance nameplates. Originally an icon of the muscle car era, the Charger was reborn as an affordable performance sedan -- and it's one of the better ones available in this market niche. Discover the ins and outs on used Dodge Chargers, available now in Carvana’s inventory.
Looking for a ride with some serious giddy-up? Meet the Dodge Charger, which is the only sedan in its price range with a V8 offering. Ranging from the affordably priced R/T model (5.7-liter V8 rated 370 horsepower) to the supercharged Hellcat (6.2-liter V8 that churns out 707 horsepower), the Charger provides a variety of options for individuals looking for some real juice to go with their purchase.
Though the Charger may technically be a sedan, it flexes the kind of sporty handling that is suggested by its brash styling. Supple and forgiving on poor surfaces, the Charger also offers remarkable control and balance as it roars through turns. Add in the multi-suspension upgrade and an available three-mode stability control system, and you’ll be channeling your inner Steve McQueen in no time.
While there’s no question that the Charger is a performance oriented vehicle, the interior aesthetics are notable, as well. Specifically, the 8.4-inch touchscreen is centrally located, has large “virtual” buttons, an intuitive layout, and is quick to respond to commands. Even the smaller 5-inch screen in the base model stands out in a similar fashion.
The front seats are as roomy and as comfortable as one might expect in a full-size sedan, however the rear legroom is somewhat restricted due to the massive tunnel that houses the Charger’s driveshaft. Headroom is also somewhat cramped for taller passengers who are riding in back.
Another drawback to the Charger is the limited view provided to the driver when looking towards the rear. Visibility can be a bit restricted due to the small rear window and thick roof pillars that compose the vehicle.
With power and performance comes a price to be paid at the pump. Unfortunately, fuel efficiency across the board for Charger V8 models fails to crack 20 mpg combined. In fact, fuel efficiency steadily decreases as you move from the R/T model (19 mpg combined), to the R/T Scat Pack and SRT trims (18 mpg combined), to the SRT Hellcat (16 mpg combined).
