BMW 5 Series lineup

8th Generation — G60 (2024–2027)
The G60 redesign made the 5 Series larger and introduced a fully reworked cabin built around a curved digital display. Updated turbocharged engines arrived alongside the electric i5, and a 5 Series plug-in hybrid followed for 2025.

6th Generation — F10/F07 (2011–2016)
The F10 sedan brought a longer wheelbase, a new interior, revised suspension and steering hardware, and updated turbo engines. The family also included the taller F07 Gran Turismo, which had arrived before the sedan and continued alongside it.

2016Trim changes
USB and Bluetooth functions were expanded across the range, with extra standard equipment added to several 550i models.
2015
A sport leather steering wheel, LED fog lights, and improved Bluetooth and USB phone integration became standard. The Modern Line appearance treatment was dropped.
2014Mid-cycle update
BMW refreshed the sedan and Gran Turismo styling, upgraded navigation and headlights, added diesel sedans, and gave 550i models a stronger V8.
2013
Gran Turismo models gained efficiency features, and the 550i Gran Turismo received a stronger V8. The sedan was largely unchanged.
2012Trim changes
The ActiveHybrid 5 and 528i xDrive join the range. The 528i also switches to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
2011New generation
The all-new F10 sedan debuts with a longer wheelbase, a new interior, revised chassis hardware, and updated turbo engines. The existing Gran Turismo range expands with six-cylinder and AWD versions.
5th Generation — E60/E61 (2009–2010)
These are the final U.S. years of the E60 sedan and E61 Sports Wagon before the F10 sedan replaced them. The separate F07 Gran Turismo joined the 5 Series family for 2010 with a taller hatchback body and roomier rear seating.
