It’s also offered in a variety of configurations, from fuel-sipping versions to fire-breathing SRT models, making it easy to find the perfect one to meet your needs.
Ever since its 1993 debut, the Grand Cherokee has been a luxurious alternative to Jeep’s more spartan models, such as the Wrangler. That doesn’t mean it’s any less rugged, though. Grand Cherokees are available with the proven four-wheel-drive hardware that Jeeps are known for, including skid plates and low-range gearing. But unlike the Wrangler, the Grand Cherokee employs a fully independent front and rear suspension for a more civilized ride both on and off the pavement.
The Grand Cherokee also offers a diverse range of powertrains. Standard is a 3.6-liter V6 making about 290 horsepower. It provides reasonable acceleration and fuel efficiency for a vehicle of this size. Those who want a little more oomph can find it in the Grand Cherokee’s optional V8 offerings, which range in output from 360 to over 700 ponies. Efficiency-minded shoppers, on the other hand, can choose between a thrifty turbodiesel V6 (offered from 2014 through 2019) or a plug-in hybrid (dubbed 4xe), which first appeared in 2022.
Inside the cabin, the Grand Cherokee distinguishes itself with an upscale look, comfortable seats, and ample room for cargo. Base models come well equipped, including (since 2018) a standard 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Higher trims ratchet up the luxury considerably, offering goodies such as remote start, heated front and rear seats, and a surround-view camera. They also tend to ratchet up the price.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Model Lineup
The Grand Cherokee is a midsize SUV that seats five. It’s about a foot longer than Jeep’s next size down, the compact Cherokee. A three-row version, called the Grand Cherokee L, rides on a stretched version of the same platform and shares most mechanical components.
Jeep offers the Grand Cherokee in a variety of trims, ranging from the entry-level Laredo to the off-road-ready Trailhawk to the opulent Summit. High-performance variants include the SRT and Trackhawk. Most Grand Cherokees are powered by a six-cylinder gasoline engine, though powerful V8, fuel-efficient diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains are also offered. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive available on all versions.

Every time my wife and I get in the car we remark as to how fortunate we are to have our new Jeep Grand Cherokee. We are very impressed with our new Grand Cherokee. It is a superior product in terms of performance and luxury. It is a delight to drive and gives a strong sense of safety, power and stability.

LOVE THE VEHICLE. However, we used Uconnect WiFi for the first time while traveling to vacation - we thought that using Pandora via wifi would allow us to conserve data on our cell phone plan. However, even though my phone was synced to the wifi connection, our data was still used in lieu of the wifi connection while using internet radio. We were not impressed with the wifi and will probably not use it again.

The tires were discolored and look terrible. The coloring is off and looks light brown in some areas.
