2015 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The big change for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the new E400, which brings a 329-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 to the sedan, coupe, and cabriolet. Most of the lineup carries over from the major 2014 refresh.

About the 2015 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

4th-generation E-Class family (W212/S212 sedan-wagon and C207/A207 coupe-cabriolet), second model year after the major 2014 refresh.

For 2015, Mercedes-Benz positions the E-Class as the do-everything luxury midsize model: comfortable and carefully finished like a traditional Mercedes, but offered in more flavors than most rivals. The brochure leans hard on timeless cabin quality, advanced safety, and a wide spread of powertrains, from fuel-saving diesel and hybrid versions to strong V6 and AMG performance models. Its core appeal is breadth: one model family that can serve as an executive sedan, family wagon, stylish two-door grand tourer, or high-performance machine.

The 2015 lineup ranges from the fuel-efficient E250 BlueTEC diesel and mainstream E350 to the stronger E400 and V8-powered E550 coupe and cabriolet. At the top, the E63 AMG pairs performance all-wheel drive with up to 577 hp, while the E350 4MATIC wagon combines all-wheel drive with seating for up to seven.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The new E400 sedan, coupe, and cabriolet use a 329-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. The E400 replaces the E350 coupe and cabriolet and takes over the E550 sedan's step-up role; the E550 V8 continues in the coupe and cabriolet. The former E400 Hybrid leaves the lineup, so the 2015 E400 is not a hybrid.

How the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class compares

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a light equipment update, led by a revised infotainment head unit across the range. The factory equipment structure was also simplified, while the underlying engines, transmissions, chassis, and exterior styling largely carried over.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between the 2015 and 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

The main difference is the arrival of the E400 sedan, coupe, and cabriolet with a 329-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. Most other parts of the E-Class carry over from the major 2014 refresh.

Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a redesign?

No. The 2015 E-Class is the second model year after the major 2014 refresh, so this is a trim and powertrain update rather than a redesign.

Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz E400 a hybrid?

No. The 2015 E400 uses a non-hybrid, 329-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6; the former E400 Hybrid leaves the lineup.

Which 2015 E-Class body styles use the new E400 engine?

The new E400 twin-turbo V6 appears in the 2015 sedan, coupe, and cabriolet. It replaces the E350 in the coupe and cabriolet and fills the step-up sedan role previously held by the E550.

Did the E550 disappear for 2015?

No. The E550 leaves the sedan lineup but continues as a coupe and cabriolet with its 402-hp twin-turbo V8.
