Mercedes-Benz positioned the E-Class as its highly versatile midsize luxury model: comfortable and solid for daily driving, technology-focused, safety-conscious, and offered in an unusually wide set of body styles and powertrains. Its defining strengths were a composed ride, carefully finished cabin, long-distance comfort, and choices ranging from an efficient diesel sedan to a family wagon, open-top cabriolet, and exceptionally quick AMG models.
The 2016 range stretches from the fuel-efficient E 250 BlueTEC diesel and the all-around E 350 V6 to the stronger twin-turbo E 400. The E 350 4MATIC wagon seats seven, while the E 550 gives coupe and cabriolet buyers V8 power. At the top, the 577-hp E 63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model combines serious performance with sedan or wagon practicality.
