Porsche Overview

Porsche is a German automaker known for building some of the world’s best performance vehicles. Its most famous model is the 911, a now-iconic rear-engined sports car that originally went into production in 1964. In the last few decades, the company (now a subsidiary of Volkswagen) has expanded its lineup to include sedans, wagons, and SUVs, all of which feature sports-car-like power and handling. Porsche also launched its first modern all-electric model, the Taycan, in 2019. Among its most popular sellers are the Macan, a compact SUV, and the Cayenne, a midsize SUV.

Noteworthy Features

Kicking Into High Gear
As a compact SUV, the 2019 Porsche Macan hits all the right notes for potential buyers. Sleek styling combined with a powerful base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine manned by a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch make the Porsche Macan a pleasure for everyday drivers. All-wheel drive lets drivers go where they need to go in any road condition imaginable. Driving the Macan is super smooth and comfortable with barely audible road noise.

Comfort Is Priority
Luxury Porsches offer comfortable interiors for its passengers. Though the Macan base model is comfortable, go for the Macan Turbo trim for premium seats and self-adjust multimode suspension. Heated leather seats add to the luxury feel of the Macan's indulgent interior, and adaptive suspension dampers on the Turbo make for a smooth ride. Road noise is barely noticeable, and even when opening up the Turbo to max acceleration, your ride will stay quiet. The Panamera offers a similar experience, and its Sport model comes with even more headroom.

New This Year
The year 2019 brings new features across multiple Porsche models. For the Macan S models, a turbo 3.0-liter V6 is available. As of 2019, a 10.9-inch touchscreen rounds out the new interior styling, with an updated infotainment system to match today's ever-changing technology. Additionally, buyers can opt for a heated windshield, cabin air ionizer or various suspension and engine software upgrades. The 2019 Porsche Panamera comes equipped with a brand new head-up display with front and rear touchscreens.

Additional Considerations

Fuel Efficiency
There's no lack of awesome options and customization that can be added on to your Porsche. However, the list can add up pretty quickly, driving the price up. New owners may need to pick and choose their favorites in order to keep the price down.

Interior Space
Space can be an issue if you're looking for a roomy car. Rear space in the Macan, for example, is lacking compared to some of its competitors, and a smaller cargo hold can be a drawback for those who like taking road trips and need to cart around their luggage. The 718 Cayman only seats two and may not be ideal for those who like to travel with family or in groups.

High Cost
Compared to other cars like the Jaguar F-Pace, Porsches are often priced higher. The Macan starts at around $50,000 with options that price can be driven up even more. This may be a deterrent for some who need to stick to a specific budget.
