Porsche Macan Model Lineup

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV that seats up to five passengers. It’s the smaller of two sport-utes offered by the German automaker, measuring about eight inches shorter than the midsize Cayenne. The Macan shares some components and platform elements with the Audi Q5, a related model from the Volkswagen Group. The model is currently in its first generation, which saw a significant facelift in 2019, including revised exterior styling and an updated interior with enhanced infotainment and safety features.

Porsche offers the Macan in a range of trims, including the base, S, GTS, and Turbo. Each trim level features a different powertrain and unique design elements, as well as varying levels of standard equipment. These differences are noted below.

The base Macan comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 248 horsepower. The Macan S features a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with about 348 hp, while the Macan GTS has a more powerful twin-turbo V6 producing between 360 and 434 hp, depending on the year. The range-topping Macan Turbo (discontinued in 2022) increases that to between 400 and 434 hp. All engines are paired with Porsche’s quick-shifting seven-speed PDK transmission and all-wheel drive.

Since 2019, the Macan has offered a standard 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay integration. Android Auto followed in 2021. Earlier models get a smaller 7-inch screen without smartphone integration. A range of notable advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and a surround-view camera, first became available in 2015. Forward collision mitigation became standard in 2021, but most other driver aids remain optional.

We recommend that used car buyers target 2019 and later models, which benefit from an updated design and improved technology and safety features. Those who prioritize performance should consider the S or GTS trims for a balance of power and value. But keep in mind that the base Macan still offers solid performance at a more reasonable price point.

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo

Dear Porsche, this Macan is great. The best vehicle I've ever owned. But it's not perfect. In fact I think there's a bunch of easy changes you could make - most simple software changes - that would improve it. An easy way to access the folders and playlists on the jukebox without digging through the actual songs. The phone buttons on the steering wheel are useless to me. Let me reprogram them like the diamond. Speaking of the diamond, let it have different functions based on the source. I normally use it for next track on media sources, but next preset makes more sense than seek for tuner. Let's all agree that the analog speedometer is useless. That space could've been used for another MFD so I could have vehicle on the right and audio on the left. Or maybe permanent analog gas and oil temp gauges. Speaking of gas gauges, the sky above the 3D map in the MFD is wasted space. Could be used to display the gas gauge.

Not sure if the hardware supports it but it'd be nice to be able to select seat and steering wheel separately for Easy Entry so I could set it to move the steering wheel but not the seat. Sure be nice if the MFD had a display that showed the status of the center console buttons so I didn't have to look down at them. The direction for manual up and down shift on the lever are backwards. Many will agree with me, many won't. Would be nice if it were programmable and saved with the key memory. A space in the spare tire well to put the manual and storage pack extras would've been nice. There's too much motion in the shift paddles.

2015 Porsche Macan S

The Macan S is a great car. However, there is one minor annoyance. The sun visor should be made more functional... when pulled to the side to block the sun, it cannot be extended. A telescoping feature as many other less expensive vehicles have, would be a welcome addition to this vehicle's standard features. One other comment if I may... the Nav system is probably the least intuitive system I have used. I have not purchased a vehicle in more than 10 years that did not have a navigation system. This includes my Can-Am Spyder RT Ltd motorcycle which comes standard with a Nav system. Having the Nav system as standard equipment is one of the reasons I purchased this motorcycle over other Can-Am Spyder models.

2015 Porsche Macan S

I traded a Volvo xc60 r design for the Porsche Macan S. I liked the safety features on the Volvo much better especially the lane assist. The Porsche waits too long to notify you of someone in your other lane. I really cannot depend on it.
