Porsche Cayenne Coupe

Twenty years ago, Porsche changed the SUV game with its posh yet surprisingly athletic Cayenne. Now, the performance-minded automaker ups the ante with the Cayenne Coupe, a fastback version that trades some of the regular Cayenne’s utility for a sleeker shape and even greater thrills behind the wheel. Pros for the Cayenne Coupe include its handsome styling, top-notch build quality, and wide variety of powertrains, which range in output from 335 all the way to 670 horsepower. On the downside, it’s one of the most expensive models in its class, especially when loaded up with many of Porsche’s nearly endless list of available options.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Model Lineup

The Cayenne Coupe is a sportier, fastback version of Porsche’s popular midsize luxury crossover SUV, the Cayenne. It’s the only coupe-like sport utility vehicle offered by the German automaker and measures about eight inches longer than their compact SUV, the Macan. The Cayenne Coupe shares a platform and some components with the Audi Q8 and its performance-themed variants, the SQ8 and RS Q8, which are built by Porsche’s sister company within the Volkswagen Group of automotive brands.

Porsche offers the Cayenne Coupe in a wide variety of trims, which correspond primarily to each version’s included powertrain and overall performance capabilities. At the lower end of the range is the base model, which utilizes a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 making 335 horsepower, the E-Hybrid, which adds a plug-in hybrid system that increases output to 455 hp (total) and offers up to 14 miles of all-electric range, and the S, which gets a 434-hp 2.9-liter turbo V6. In the middle is the GTS, which debuted in 2021 and employs a 4.0-liter turbo V8 with 453 hp; it also boasts an adaptive air suspension and a torque-vectoring system for sportier handling. At the upper end is the Turbo, which boosts the V8’s output to 541 hp, and the Turbo S E-Hybrid, which adds an electric motor and battery pack to increase total horsepower to 670 ponies (and provide up to 11 miles of all-electric range). At the top of the heap is the Turbo GT, which first appeared in 2022 and is the most capable performer of them all, featuring a 631-hp twin-turbo V8, a lightweight carbon-fiber roof, and high-performance brakes and suspension tuning, among other upgrades. All versions get an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard equipment.

Inside the cabin, the Cayenne Coupe is fitted with a long list of standard features, including a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and a 12.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and, as of 2022, Android Auto integration. Forward collision mitigation is also standard; however, most other driver aids, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning, are optional. Other notable options include a surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and an upgraded Burmester audio system.
