Cadillac XT4: Trims, Generations & Buyer's Guide

Last updated August 13, 2026

Cadillac XT4

The Cadillac XT4 is a compact luxury SUV known for bold styling, generous rear-seat room, and a tech-focused cabin in a city-friendly size.

Since its 2019 launch, the XT4 has offered a distinctive Cadillac look without the size of a larger luxury SUV. Its core formula stayed consistent, pairing a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a nine-speed automatic and an emphasis on everyday usefulness. The 2024 refresh modernized that formula with revised styling, a curved 33-inch display, and stronger standard safety technology.

Strengths

  • Its small footprint makes it easier to manage in town than a larger luxury SUV.
  • The back seat has useful room for adults, with 39.5 inches of rear legroom in 2025.
  • Models from the 2024 refresh stand out for their wide, curved 33-inch dashboard display.
  • Safety equipment improved steadily, and the previously optional Active Safety Package became standard on both trims for 2025.
  • Its bold exterior gives it a distinct Cadillac identity rather than a generic compact-SUV look.

Who it's for

The XT4 fits someone who wants an upscale daily driver that feels manageable around town but still has useful room for passengers. It makes particular sense for a shopper who values distinctive design and a modern dashboard more than moving up to a larger SUV.

Cadillac XT4 lineup

For most of its run, the XT4 lineup consisted of Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. Luxury was the entry trim, while Premium Luxury and Sport served as the two higher-level branches. Pick Premium Luxury for the more traditionally luxury-themed version or Sport for the sport-themed alternative; both retain the XT4’s same basic turbocharged-engine formula. Cadillac dropped Luxury for 2025, leaving Premium Luxury and Sport for the final model year.

Cadillac XT4 generations

From 2019 to 2025, the XT4 spans 1 generation. The current 1st Generation arrived for 2019.

1st Generation (2019–2025)

The first and only XT4 generation introduced Cadillac’s small luxury SUV with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic. A major 2024 refresh brought redesigned front and rear styling, a 33-inch curved dashboard display, and more standard safety technology without changing the engine.
