About the 2025 Porsche Taycan

First Taycan generation, major 2025 overhaul/facelift that Porsche later referred to as the second Taycan generation.

Porsche positions the Taycan as an electric sports car first and a luxury EV second. The appeal is strong acceleration, sharp handling, fast 800-volt charging, and a low, driver-focused cockpit that feels much closer to a Porsche sports car than to a typical electric sedan. Compared with rivals, the Taycan’s main draw is that it aims to deliver a distinctly Porsche driving experience, not just big power numbers.

The base Taycan remains the simpler rear-wheel-drive model, while the Taycan 4 and 4S add all-wheel drive and stronger performance. The GTS brings sharper chassis tuning and up to 690 hp, while the Turbo and Turbo S combine very high output with richer equipment. At the top, the new 1,019-hp Turbo GT focuses on track performance, and its Weissach package replaces the rear seat with a lightweight shelf and adds more aggressive bodywork for airflow.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
Reworked electric motors, batteries, energy recovery, cooling, and software bring more power, quicker acceleration, and longer range. Maximum DC fast-charging capability rises to 320 kW under ideal conditions. The lineup also gains the Turbo GT and Turbo GT with Weissach package, while the Taycan 4 sedan and an updated GTS sedan join later in the model year.
Styling
The front and rear are revised with flatter headlights, updated lighting designs, and reshaped details. Turbo models receive distinct Turbonite-colored exterior and interior accents.
Safety
Lane Change Assist becomes standard across the lineup.
Tech
Updated displays and controls bring a revised driver interface and deeper Apple CarPlay integration. Standard equipment expands to include a wireless phone-charging tray, a heated steering wheel, charge ports on both front fenders, and power-folding mirrors.
Structural
Adaptive air suspension becomes standard across the lineup. Porsche Active Ride, a system designed to keep the body more level over bumps and during cornering, is optional on all-wheel-drive models.
