2025 Mazda CX-50: What's New, Specs & Features
Last updated August 4, 2026

The biggest change for the 2025 Mazda CX-50 is the arrival of its first hybrid powertrain in three new hybrid trims. This is the CX-50's biggest update since launch, but it is not a redesign.
About the 2025 Mazda CX-50
1st generation (2023-present), third model year; major powertrain expansion with the first CX-50 Hybrid, not a redesign.
Mazda positions the CX-50 as the more outdoor-minded, rugged-looking alternative to the CX-5: a compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive, useful cargo flexibility, and styling aimed at active lifestyles, but without giving up the brand’s sharper road manners and upscale cabin feel. Its core appeal is everyday comfort and confident handling first, with light-duty adventure capability, road-trip usability, and a more premium feel than many small-SUV rivals.
The 2.5 S Select is the straightforward gas entry, with standard AWD, a 10.25-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and synthetic leather seating. The new Hybrid Preferred combines electronic all-wheel drive with heated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a power liftgate, while the Hybrid Premium adds leather, a panoramic moonroof, and Bose audio. The turbo models remain the stronger-performance side of the range; the Meridian Edition has a more rugged focus, while the Turbo Premium Plus carries the most extensive camera and driver-assistance equipment.

How is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 different from the 2024 model?
The 2025 CX-50 adds three hybrid trims, standard Alexa Built-in, stronger standard safety equipment, and better fuel economy for the non-turbo gas engine. Several gas trims also receive added comfort, camera, and driver-assistance features, while the previous entry-level 2.5 Turbo trim leaves the lineup.
Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trims are hybrids?
The 2025 CX-50 hybrid trims are Preferred, Premium, and Premium Plus. All three use a 2.5-liter hybrid system with an automatic transmission and electronic all-wheel drive.
Did every 2025 Mazda CX-50 gain new safety and technology features?
Yes. Every 2025 CX-50 gains Alexa Built-in, a rear-seat reminder, an exit warning for approaching traffic, and improved automatic emergency braking with better nighttime pedestrian and head-on collision detection.
Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 a redesign?
No. The 2025 CX-50 remains part of the first generation introduced for 2023. Its new hybrid choices and broader equipment updates make it a substantial mid-generation change rather than a full redesign.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Reviews
What owners are saying about the 2025 Mazda CX-50.
“The CX 50 is a reliable car from a reliable auto maker that invest in innovative technology. The CX 50 has an excellent interior and exterior look, a perfect size for someone that doesn't want to go too big or too small. Also, its interior design is clean with a minimal amount of buttons. Finally, it comes with a fair amount of safety features.”
“As far as a hybrid suv, the cx50 is an excellent choice in terms of size, safety features, esthetics, and price. There are not many other non-plug ins on the market with this much cargo space at this price point.”
