2022 Jeep Gladiator

The biggest change for the 2022 Jeep Gladiator is the new Sport Altitude, a darker, style-focused version of the Sport S. Otherwise, this is a light-update year rather than a redesign.

About the 2022 Jeep Gladiator

JT generation, third model year (2020-2023 before the 2024 refresh).

Jeep positions the Gladiator as the only midsize pickup that blends a real truck bed with Wrangler-style open-air driving. Its core appeal is simple: removable roof and doors, serious 4x4 hardware, and a personality built around trails, camping and outdoor use. Against other midsize trucks, Jeep sells the Gladiator less as a pure work truck and more as an adventure truck that still brings useful towing, payload and everyday pickup utility.

The 2022 lineup runs from the simple Sport, with four-wheel drive, a 7-inch touchscreen and a washout interior, to the comfort-focused Overland and leather-trimmed High Altitude. Rubicon is set up for low-speed rock crawling with locking front and rear differentials, while Mojave uses desert-tuned FOX shocks and a locking rear differential for faster travel on dirt and sand. The Texas-only Texas Trail combines towing equipment, leather-trimmed seats and a blacked-out look.

What changed, by category

Jeep added the dark-themed Sport Altitude and the Texas-only Texas Trail special edition. The 80th Edition, California Edition and Freedom Edition left the lineup, while the Gladiator’s core body design stayed the same.
Tech
Sport, Sport S and Willys Sport gained a standard 7-inch touchscreen, and Sport, Sport S and Willys Sport gained standard satellite radio. Mojave, Overland and Rubicon gained standard navigation, premium audio and proximity keyless entry. Every Gladiator also received cabin air filtration, while dual-zone climate control stopped being standard on Willys.
