About the 2021 Porsche Panamera

2nd generation Panamera (971), mid-cycle refresh year.

Porsche positions the Panamera as a true four-door sports car rather than a traditional soft luxury sedan. Its core appeal is that it blends fast responses, strong engines, and precise handling with real passenger comfort and everyday usefulness. The lineup stretches from a rear-drive entry model to plug-in hybrids and high-output V8 versions, which is what sets it apart from rivals that focus more on straight luxury than driver involvement.

The 2021 range runs from a rear-wheel-drive, 325-hp base Panamera to all-wheel-drive 4 and stronger 4S models, with the GTS serving as the driver-focused 473-hp V8 version. The new 552-hp 4S E-Hybrid blends plug-in driving with near-flagship performance, while the 620-hp Turbo S and 689-hp Turbo S E-Hybrid sit at the top. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay is a signature cabin feature across the lineup.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The base Panamera switched from its previous 3.0-liter engine to a 325-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. Every E-Hybrid received a larger 17.9-kWh battery and recalibrated hybrid modes, while the new 552-hp 4S E-Hybrid joined the range. The GTS rose to 473 hp, and the Turbo name continued as Turbo S with a 620-hp V8; the Turbo S E-Hybrid rose to 689 hp.
Styling
Porsche made the sharper SportDesign front end standard across the lineup. The rear gained a full-width light bar and revised lower detailing, while GTS models received their own dark exterior treatment.
Safety
Lane Keep Assist with Traffic Sign Recognition became standard across the lineup. Lane-departure warning also became standard.
Tech
The touchscreen system gained higher-resolution graphics, improved voice control, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Proximity keyless entry and push-button start also became standard on the base, 4, 4S, GTS, and related body-style versions.
Chassis
Porsche recalibrated the Panamera’s chassis tuning. The 4S gained standard adaptive air suspension, while the Turbo S added standard rear-wheel steering, active body-lean control with torque vectoring, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Lineup
The 4S E-Hybrid, 4S E-Hybrid Executive, and 4S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo joined the lineup. Turbo, Turbo Executive, and Turbo Sport Turismo continued under the Turbo S names, while the three 10 Years Edition trims ended.
