2020 Chrysler Pacifica

The biggest change for the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica is a lineup reshuffle that makes Touring the starting retail trim. This is otherwise a light update, not a redesign.

About the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica

1st Pacifica minivan generation (2017-2020), final year before the 2021 refresh.

Chrysler positions the Pacifica as the upscale, flexible family minivan in its class: a people mover that leans hard on clever seating, easy cargo conversion, family entertainment and a more polished cabin than bargain minivans. Its core identity centers on everyday usefulness, especially Stow 'n Go seating on gas models, plus the plug-in-hybrid option for families who want electric commuting without giving up minivan space. The Pacifica’s main draw is that it blends practicality, comfort and available premium features better than most three-row SUVs.

Touring is the practical starting point, with power sliding doors, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring and three-row seating. Touring L adds heated leather-trimmed comfort, while Touring L Plus focuses on navigation and rear entertainment. Limited brings Nappa leather and ventilated front seats; Red S adds a red leather cabin and dark trim, while Launch Edition is the AWD model for poor-weather traction.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
A plug-in-hybrid powertrain joined the Touring trim. The late-year Launch Edition brought an on-demand all-wheel-drive system, Chrysler’s first AWD minivan setup since 2004.
Styling
The new Red S special edition added red Nappa leather seats, gloss-black exterior trim, dark roof rails and red badging to Limited gas and plug-in-hybrid models.
Tech
The alarm system became standard on Touring. Red S also bundled navigation, a 20-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and KeySense driver controls.

How the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica compares

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica gets a substantial mid-cycle refresh rather than a full redesign. Its biggest improvement is a much broader package of standard driver-assistance features.

Frequently asked questions

Was the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica redesigned?

No. The 2020 Pacifica is the final model year before the 2021 refresh, and its basic design, engines and family-focused layout changed very little from 2019.

How did the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica trim lineup change?

The lineup was reorganized rather than redesigned. Touring became the starting retail Pacifica, LX and Touring Plus were dropped, the L name changed to Launch Edition, and Red S joined as a special edition.

Does the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica have all-wheel drive?

Yes, but only the limited-run, late-year Launch Edition has all-wheel drive. This Touring L-based model uses an on-demand AWD system along with revised suspension and a slightly higher ride height.

Did the 2020 Pacifica Touring get a plug-in-hybrid version?

Yes. A plug-in-hybrid powertrain joined the Touring trim for 2020, making Touring the entry point for the Pacifica’s electric-driving setup.

What is the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Red S?

The Red S is a new 2020 special edition based on Limited gas and plug-in-hybrid models. It combines red Nappa leather, dark exterior trim, navigation, premium audio, driver-assistance features and KeySense controls.

“The cigarette lighter outlet is in a bad place. There should be one in or in the back of the seat console.”

SOStanley O.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica Limited Hybrid (Plug-in)

“Worth it. We only buy gas for road trips, driving assistance makes road trips less tiring, comfortable for long drives, plenty of space for errands around town, can recharge in a couple hours from a 0% battery.”

JAJames A.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica Limited Hybrid (Plug-in)

“I am able to carry and transport anything and everything I want because the seats all fold into the floor. When I need to seat 7 people I can seat them comfortably.”
