Porsche positions the 911 as the everyday sports car that can stretch from comfortable grand tourer to serious track machine without losing its rear-engine character or iconic shape. Across Porsche’s own materials, the themes are precision, speed, usability, and technical depth. What sets the 911 apart from rivals is its unusual mix of compact size, strong visibility, real-world comfort, and a huge spread of personalities: rear-drive, all-wheel drive, open-roof, track-focused, or supercar-fast, all within the same core formula.

The core Carrera remains the everyday-friendly 911, with a 370-hp twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, a seven-speed manual, small rear seats, and touchscreen navigation. The Carrera T puts more emphasis on driver involvement, while the all-wheel-drive Targa models combine open-air driving with a distinctive power-operated roof. At the far end of the range, the GT3 is the high-revving road-and-track model and the GT2 RS is the 700-hp, rear-wheel-drive flagship.

What changed, by category

Powertrain

The Carrera T, GT3, and GT2 RS join the 2018 range. The refreshed GT3 gets a 500-hp 4.0-liter engine and the return of a six-speed manual, while the new GT2 RS uses a 700-hp twin-turbo engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, and Targa 4 GTS output rises to 450 hp and 405 lb-ft. Turbo and Turbo S gain 20 hp, reaching 540 and 580 hp.

Styling

Changes are limited to performance models. The GT3 gets revised aerodynamics, the GT2 RS adds a large fixed rear wing and other high-downforce bodywork, and the Turbo receives updated exterior styling.

Tech

Turbo models add Dynamic Boost and standard Sport Chrono equipment. The Turbo also gains standard rear-axle steering and updated infotainment hardware.

Structural

The Carrera T adds a sport suspension lowered by 10 mm, lightweight glass, reduced sound insulation, and other weight-saving details. The GT2 RS also uses lightweight components and standard ceramic brakes for its more track-focused role.
