About the 2018 Jaguar F-TYPE

1st generation (2014–2024), first major refresh year

Jaguar presents the F-TYPE as a two-seat sports car centered on dramatic design, immediate engine response, expressive exhaust sound, and agile handling. Coupe and convertible bodies combine a low, driver-focused cabin with aluminum-intensive construction. Its key distinction is the breadth of character within one shape: lighter four-cylinder models, supercharged V6 versions, and high-output AWD V8 models, all emphasizing driving involvement rather than passenger or cargo space.

The 2018 lineup stretches from a lighter, rear-wheel-drive 296-hp turbo four to the 550-hp R and 575-hp SVR, both with V8 power and all-wheel drive. In between, R-Dynamic gives the 380-hp V6 dark exterior trim, while the one-year 400 Sport pairs a 400-hp V6 with upgraded brakes and adjustable suspension settings.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
A 296-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder joined the range with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic. The lineup also added the 3.0 340 HP, 3.0 380 HP, and R-Dynamic trims; Base, Premium, and S British Design Edition were dropped. The S continued under the 400 Sport name with an exclusive 400-hp supercharged V6 tune.
Styling
Jaguar redesigned the front bumpers and air intakes, with clearer visual differences between models. Full LED headlights with J-shaped daytime running lights became standard, and the new R-Dynamic received dark exterior trim.
Tech
An 8-inch touchscreen with navigation became standard across the range. Dual-zone climate control moved from standard to optional, and the R's heated steering wheel also moved from standard to optional.
Safety
A rearview camera became standard on the R after being optional for 2017.
Structural
New slimline sport seats used lightweight magnesium frames, reducing seat weight while retaining power adjustment on the regular models.

“I would recommend them to get the sport steering wheel. The stock steering wheel is garbage, too thin and kills the driving experience. I'm in the process of replacing the stock steering wheel for the sport one”
