2017 Ram 2500

The biggest change for the 2017 Ram 2500 is the Power Wagon's tougher blacked-out exterior and revised cabin trim. This is otherwise a light update rather than a full redesign.

About the 2017 Ram 2500

4th-generation Ram Heavy Duty (2010-2018), late-cycle update year.

Ram positioned the 2500 as a heavy-duty pickup that could do serious towing and hauling work without feeling punishing to drive every day. Its big selling points were strong engine choices, large Crew Cab and Mega Cab interiors, and the Ram-exclusive rear coil-spring setup on 2500 models that gave it a smoother ride than most heavy-duty rivals. The range stretched from basic work trucks to luxury trims, with the Power Wagon serving buyers who wanted real off-road hardware in a 3/4-ton truck.

The 2017 Ram 2500 ranges from the basic Tradesman work truck to leather-lined Laramie models with navigation, heated seats, and parking sensors. The Power Wagon is the trail-focused standout, with locking front and rear differentials, an electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar, skid plates, Bilstein shocks, and a front winch.

“It shakes at speeds between 65-72 mph. Very disconcerting and now at to fix it according to the service department. Other than that, this is a great truck. I wish there was better integration of the Uconnect system with phone apps. You can use Siri, but can't control apps like Spotify or Navigation with the system.”

“Very nice vehicle. Smooth power. Smooth ride for 2500. I would make some changes that were standard options on my 2008. New vehicle was a laramie.”
