I would tell them to look the car over and see if it met their needs or desires, then be sure there is room in their budget if the answer is yes, then by all means get it---I love mine.

love my vehicle! But I used to drive a pick up so size is better, parking better, ease of getting in.

Drive it in all road conditions. Check the acceleration and braking. Both are exceptional for a vehicle this size and weight.

The Explorer is a good SUV. The V6 is slightly under powered. My prior 2014 Explorer had an issue with exhaust gasses entering the passenger compartment during acceleration if the AC system is in the recirculate position. That's the reason I traded for a 2017 Explorer. However the 2017 exhibits the same problem but to a slightly lesser degree. I will not purchase another Explorer (and perhaps another Ford product) until Ford fixed this issue. Ford has a repair note on this issue but that fix is not the cure.

Thus far I very much like the car. There are a few little annoyances (leather seats have picked up dye from my jeans even though I had them treated, the radio presets are a little annoying to navigate), but all in all my experience with the car has been great! Also, the parking sensors are very sensitive, it warns me red when I'm ~6 inches away which in my mind is still pretty far.
