About the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG SL

6th generation (R231, introduced for 2013), final model year before the 2017 mid-cycle update

Mercedes-Benz positioned the SL as a two-seat grand-touring roadster that blends sports-car speed with long-distance comfort. Its power retractable hardtop and glass roof provide coupe-like shelter, while heated, ventilated and neck-warming features extend open-top use beyond warm weather. The AMG versions add handcrafted engines, active suspension and stronger performance hardware without giving up the SL’s leather-lined cabin and everyday comfort.

The SL 63 AMG is the V8-powered performance roadster, with 577 horsepower, active suspension, a limited-slip differential and a power-folding hardtop. The SL 65 AMG steps up to a 621-hp V12 and adds a more luxury-focused cabin with exclusive Nappa leather, massaging climate-controlled seats, Bang & Olufsen audio and active driver-assistance features.
