2015 Land Rover Range Rover

The biggest change for the 2015 Range Rover is the new HSE LWB, which combines the V6-powered HSE trim with 7.3 inches of extra rear legroom. This is otherwise a light trim-and-equipment update, not a redesign.

About the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover

4th generation (L405, 2013-2021), third model year; minor equipment update rather than a redesign or mid-cycle exterior refresh

Land Rover positioned the Range Rover as a full-size luxury SUV that did not trade away serious all-terrain ability. Its defining combination was a quiet, richly finished cabin, commanding seating position, adjustable air suspension, low-range 4WD, and substantial towing and off-road capability. The aluminum body reduced weight compared with the prior generation, while standard-wheelbase and LWB versions addressed both owner-driver and rear-passenger-focused use.

The base Range Rover remains well equipped, with a 340-hp supercharged V6, full-time four-wheel drive, adjustable air suspension, leather seating, navigation, and Meridian audio. The HSE focuses on added comfort, while the new HSE LWB provides more rear-seat room without moving up to a V8 model. Supercharged trims use a 510-hp V8, and the Autobiography models emphasize rear-seat luxury, massaging and ventilated seats, extensive leather trim, and a 29-speaker Meridian audio system.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The 340-hp supercharged V6 and 510-hp supercharged V8 carry over with eight-speed automatic transmissions. Fuel offerings narrow, with the flexible-fuel option leaving the base and HSE trims and the gas-only powertrain option leaving the V8 trims.
Structural
The HSE LWB joins the range with a longer wheelbase and 7.3 inches of additional rear legroom. The Supercharged Ebony Edition leaves the lineup.
Styling
The Autobiography Black LWB's alloy-wheel equipment changes from standard to optional.
Safety
Lane-departure warning and traffic sign recognition become standard on the Autobiography and Autobiography LWB.
Tech and comfort
Ventilated front seats become standard on the HSE, Supercharged, and Supercharged LWB, and those trims also gain standard soft-close doors. Autobiography models gain a standard heated steering wheel and an automatic rear-seat cargo-folding function, while the base trim gains power front-seat cushion-tilt adjustment.

How the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover compares

The biggest change for the 2016 Range Rover is the arrival of Td6 diesel power in the Base and HSE trims. This is a meaningful powertrain and trim update rather than a full redesign.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 2015 Range Rover a redesigned model?

No. The 2015 Range Rover remains part of the fourth generation introduced for 2013 and receives trim-level equipment changes rather than a full redesign or exterior refresh.

What is the main difference between the 2015 Range Rover and the 2014 model?

The main difference is the addition of the HSE LWB for 2015. It pairs the HSE's 340-hp supercharged V6 and comfort equipment with 7.3 inches of extra rear legroom.

What is special about the 2015 Range Rover HSE LWB?

The HSE LWB provides 7.3 inches more rear legroom while retaining the HSE's V6 engine. It also has power rear side-window sunshades, an extended panoramic roof with rear-passenger sunshade control, ventilated front seats, and soft-close doors.

Did the 2015 Range Rover get new engines?

No. Its main engines carry over: a 340-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and a 510-hp supercharged 5.0-liter V8, both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel compatibility offerings changed on several trims, but there was no broad engine replacement.

Which safety features changed on the 2015 Range Rover?

Lane-departure warning and traffic sign recognition became standard on the Autobiography and Autobiography LWB. There was no lineup-wide safety-suite update.
