About the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover

4th generation Range Rover (L405, 2013-2021), fourth model year and a major powertrain/technology update before the later exterior refresh.

For 2016, Range Rover is the full-size luxury SUV for shoppers who want both a high-end cabin and real off-road hardware. Land Rover positions it as the brand’s flagship: aluminum-bodied, quiet, powerful, and usable on rough terrain in a way most large luxury SUVs are not. The core appeal is that it delivers chauffeur-grade comfort, a commanding driving position, and authentic four-wheel-drive capability in the same vehicle.

The Base and HSE anchor the V6 side of the 2016 lineup with air suspension and touchscreen navigation, while the gasoline HSE has 380 horsepower. Supercharged and Autobiography models use a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, and long-wheelbase versions add 7.3 inches of rear legroom. At the top, the four-seat SVAutobiography LWB has reclining rear seats, rear massage support, folding tray tables, a beverage chiller, and a 29-speaker Meridian sound system.

Td6 diesel power joined the Base and HSE trims. The gasoline HSE's supercharged V6 increased from 340 to 380 horsepower.

Styling

The long-wheelbase trim lineup was revised. Autobiography Black LWB continued under the SVAutobiography LWB name with an exclusive grille and other exterior details, while HSE LWB was dropped.

Tech

Hands-free gesture operation for the split tailgate became standard across the lineup. Automatic access-height lowering also became standard, lowering the air suspension when parked to make entry and exit easier.
