About the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

3rd-generation Silverado HD, first year of the 2015 heavy-duty redesign.

Chevrolet positions the Silverado 2500HD as a serious heavy-duty pickup for towing, hauling, and job-site work that does not force drivers to give up comfort or easy-to-use technology. The core appeal is straightforward: big-truck capability, strong gas or diesel power, towing-focused hardware, and a cabin with larger controls, more storage, and a quieter feel than older HD trucks. Against rivals, it leans on work-ready capability with a more everyday-friendly interior.

The lineup runs from the job-focused Work Truck through the more everyday-friendly LT and leather-lined LTZ. The new High Country tops the range with saddle leather, heated and cooled front seats, Bose audio, a spray-in bedliner, and front and rear parking sensors.

What changed, by category

Styling
Chevrolet redesigned the exterior and cabin to match the newer Silverado look. A double-cab body replaced the old extended cab, and the new High Country trim added unique exterior details and a more luxurious interior.
Structural
The fully boxed frame and cab structure were strengthened with more high-strength steel. Chevrolet also focused on reducing noise inside the cabin.
Safety
New driver-assistance features joined the range. A rearview camera became standard on LTZ, while the new High Country included front and rear parking sensors.
Tech
The redesigned cabin gained updated infotainment choices, including a larger 8-inch touchscreen on LTZ. Bluetooth and USB ports became standard on LT, while a touchscreen became standard on LTZ.

“We travel in a 9.5 ft truck camper. Heading to Alaska in June so wanted a truck in warranty or probably wouldn't have traded, yet I do like new vehicles so might have traded anyway!”

“I wish the trucks were a little more durable as for the door handle. We have had the truck only 3 weeks and the door handle is loose. It is made of plastic! Why can't they put a better handle on such an expensive truck? My 2012 GMC was the same way.”

“I have bought and traded-in and bought to get the truck that I was told I was getting the first time all within 6 weeks at a loss. I wish the brand was as loyal as I am myself.”
