About the 2014 Scion xB

2nd generation xB (2008-2015), after the 2013 front-end and interior update; 2014 is the next-to-last model year.

Scion positioned the xB as an urban utility vehicle: a compact hatchback with an intentionally boxy shape that creates a tall roof, easy entry, and unusually generous room for passengers and cargo. Its core appeal is simple practicality without moving up to an SUV. Compared with rivals like the Kia Soul and Nissan Cube, the xB leans on space efficiency, straightforward controls, and a strong Toyota-sourced 2.4-liter engine more than flash or fuel economy.

The standard 2014 xB pairs its roomy five-seat cabin and folding rear seat with a 158-hp four-cylinder engine and the new touchscreen system. The Release Series 10.0 adds a rearview camera, wireless phone charging, special cloth upholstery, piano-black cabin trim, and distinctive interior lighting.

“Car is everything I wanted. Small, modern, utilitarian but really distinctive and sporty styling. Great gas mileage and reliability. This is just a simple, reliable car. Nothing overly complicated to fail.”

“The only thing I would change about the Scion XB is where the gas lever is other than that I love the car”

“Overall my Scion XB is excellent; but it would be nice to make a few changes to the interior on future models. One would be to have more than one speed for the intermittent wipers. Also better overhead lighting in the cargo area that turns on when the doors or the rear hatch is opened. Also there is a need for more power outlets (direct from battery not controlled by the key) in the rear cargo area.”
