2014 Ford Focus

I am enjoying the car so far; however the placement of the coin catcher is inconvenient. I would rather have an actual ashtray/cup type receptacle to toss change in. A valet key would be appropriate for all vehicles today, since dining out; one doesn't want to leave keys with a stranger, or personal effects available to someone parking your car.

With regard to the Focus SE I purchased, I am overall very happy with the car. It gets great mileage and the heated cloth seats and heated mirrors were a lifesaver this winter! However, I am not all that crazy about the gearing of the manual transmission. The transmission feels to me like it is more of a close ratio setup and the lower gears tend to rev out quickly. I prefer being able to achieve a bit higher speed before having to shift up to the next gear. I understand that having a closer ratio transmission would force the driver to get into the higher cruising gears for better mileage earlier but it would be nice if the lower gears were a little taller. As for the dash, when the temperature outside is cold there tends to be some vibration from the bezels around the gauges. It's mildly annoying because it is a brand new vehicle and I would have expected such vibrations to present themselves at a later time when the car is much older. Besides those two items mentioned above, I think the engineers at Ford have truly knocked it out of the park with the new Focus and am glad that Ford has had such awesome success with the car.

The only things I dislike about the car are the cup holders. They are too tight and can't be adjusted. I have had coffee lids come off because the cup holder won't let go of the cup. Secure is great, but sometimes there's too secure.

I bought my last Ford Focus in Sept 2001. It had about 110,000 miles when I traded it in for my new 2014 Ford Focus. Best car I ever had. I knew several years ago that I would be replacing a Focus with another Focus. Even when I traded in the 2001 my mileage was 29mpg. Nice. I should be your spokesperson because I could go on & on with tales of my wonderful Focus. I fully expect that I will love this new one just as much although I don't plan to keep it as long.

Car is spiffy and fun to drive so says my wife

It's just a car. It gets us from one place to another. But with the rear headrests, it's really hard to see when backing up or changing lanes. Supposedly the rear seat folds down, but it's not made for that - not when you see the metal frame. It's too bad Ford couldn't have made it a real fold-down like other brands have. And what happened to daytime running lights? Did they stop using them? I think they need them. The steering wheel is adjustable - by about 2 inches. Why bother? It was not a fun experience - because I don't like the newer cars - the style, the features, the funny-looking grille, the small trunk opening. And no car that I saw had a wagon model - a hatchback is NOT a wagon. But I was at the point where the Lumina needed some expensive work done, so I needed a new car.

Best experience I ever had purchasing a car.

I was very intrigued about the versatility and fun factor of the "hot hatch". Ford nailed it with the Focus ST. This is the most fun car I have ever driven but is still practical for a daily driver. All at an unbeatable price. However, I would've paid $5K more for all-wheel drive and been even happier.

I hate the miles to empty display. It has nothing to do with the miles I drive and jumps around and is overstated. How can I go from 172 miles to empty to 165 when I only drive 2 miles? My car also makes noise under the car after I am out of the car with the car off. What is that---a new car and it's making noise after it off? Really hate the display of gears on front display and not next to gear shift. I want to see what gear I'm in when putting it in gear----display should be next to gear not on display above wheel. I want to know immediately I'm in D or L or R. Voice would be nice but want display on side.
