About the 2014 Ford C-MAX

First U.S.-market C-MAX generation (2013-2018), second model year.

Ford positioned the C-MAX as a compact multi-activity vehicle that mixed hybrid efficiency with upright seating, a roomy five-seat cabin and flexible hatchback cargo space. Compared with Prius-style rivals, its pitch leaned toward a taller driving position, quicker acceleration and a more settled, European-flavored road feel, while still working as an everyday commuter or small-family runabout. The Energi version added plug-in commuting ability without changing the basic roomy C-MAX formula.

The C-MAX Hybrid SE is the practical version, with a 188-hp hybrid system, dual-zone climate control and a folding rear seat. The SEL adds leather-trimmed heated seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, push-button start and rear parking sensors; the plug-in C-MAX Energi uses this better-equipped SEL format.

“i've driven this car on many road trips now and i would say it's only gotten louder the more miles i've driven it. it's honestly embarrassing and very annoying. it's a cute car and it runs okay, but it's obnoxiously loud.”
