Powertrain

The redesigned lineup gets revised engines and better fuel economy. Output rises from 290 to 300 hp in the base Cayenne and from 385 to 400 hp in the Cayenne S. The new 380-hp S Hybrid combines a supercharged V6 with an electric motor and supports low-speed electric driving, regenerative braking, and engine-off coasting. The S, S Hybrid, and Turbo use an eight-speed automatic; the base model retains a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Automatic models also gain an engine stop-start system. The former GTS and Turbo S trims do not carry over.

Styling

The second-generation Cayenne receives a complete exterior redesign with cleaner lines, a sleeker shape, and a more car-like profile.

Structural

The new body is substantially lighter than before while providing a roomier cabin and more flexible rear seating.

Tech

The cabin is redesigned around a more modern center console and touchscreen-based controls. Bluetooth becomes standard across the lineup, while the Turbo gains standard USB connectivity. A power moonroof becomes standard on the S and Turbo, and dual-zone climate control becomes standard on the base Cayenne. The S Hybrid also receives displays showing how energy moves through its gas-electric system.
