Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
Coupe-like SUVs have grown popular in recent years, and Volkswagen joins the party with the Atlas Cross Sport. Based on the midsize Atlas, the Cross Sport ditches that model’s third row (as well as a bit of headroom) in favor of a tapered rear roofline. The result is a more athletic-looking silhouette that still leaves plenty of space for five passengers and their stuff. Not surprisingly, owners of the Atlas Cross Sport give it high marks for style and interior roominess. On the downside, owners report that tepid acceleration from the available powerplants undermines the sport-ute’s otherwise enjoyable driving dynamics.

Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Model Lineup
The Atlas Cross Sport is a sportier-looking version of VW’s largest crossover SUV, the midsize Atlas. To achieve its fastback look, the Cross Sport shaves a few inches off the back of the standard Atlas. In the process, it also loses the third row, reducing seating capacity from seven to five. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds.
Volkswagen offers the Atlas Cross Sport in three main trims: the base-level S (which was eliminated in 2022), the mid-tier SE, and the well-equipped SEL. All versions come standard with LED headlights, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot warning, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Stepping up to the SE adds heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a wireless smartphone charging pad, while the SEL also offers navigation, a digital gauge cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. The trims can be further customized with equipment groups, including the Technology package, which offers adaptive cruise control and parking sensors, the R-Line, which adds black trim accents and unique wheels, and the Premium, which includes heated and ventilated leather seats, among other goodies.
Motivating the Atlas Cross Sport is either a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 235 horsepower or an optional 3.6-liter V6, which boosts output to 276 hp. Both engines are backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, which routes power to the front wheels unless the model is equipped with optional all-wheel drive, which VW calls 4Motion. No hybrid or electric versions have been produced.

I would choose this vehicle due to the design and it being the roomiest. It is very fun to drive.

I feel very safe in this vehicle through any conditions. I am always driving in snow and icy conditions. The car performs excellently and has enough power to get out of sticky situations. The dash controls are not very intuitive. Months later I am still figuring out some features. Overall I love the look, size and performance of the vehicle.

You can't go wrong with the purchase of a VEACS, test drive it for your own personal evaluation and experience.

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 3.6 AWD
Beautiful styling inside and out. Great safety features and infotainment. Very comfortable and roomy interior. MPG is extremely poor for its power class. Transmission is not smooth from a stop and overall power is lacking. Feature customization could be much more robust (i.e. control beeping, open door dinging, interior colors, etc.). For a top of the line model, it is lacking a couple of features standard on other cars in its class (i.e. shifting paddles, auto brake hold).
