Since the 2024 lineup reorganization, a full name combines three things: duty class, equipment tier and body size. A name such as 2500 SLT High Roof with a 159-inch wheelbase identifies the van’s work rating, cabin equipment, roof and length.

The numbers identify the van’s duty class, not its cabin features. The 1500 is the lighter-duty choice, the 2500 is the middle step and the 3500 is aimed at heavier work. Roof height, body length and Tradesman, SLT or SLT+ equipment are separate parts of the name.

On newer ProMasters, SLT adds useful daily-driving equipment over the work-first Tradesman. Key upgrades include adaptive cruise control, heated power-folding mirrors, LED headlights and fog lights, automatic high beams, remote start and a security alarm.

On newer ProMasters, SLT+ adds the broadest gas-van technology package. Its clearest upgrades include a 10.1-inch navigation screen, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure assistance, front and rear parking sensors, and a six-way passenger seat.

The newer 1500 Tradesman Low Roof with the 118-inch wheelbase is the easiest ProMaster to place. It has the shortest body, an 8-foot cargo floor and the lowest roof, making it the natural fit for tight parking, city delivery routes and lower-clearance areas.

Pick the Low Roof when garage clearance and lower overall height matter more than standing room. Its cargo height is about 67 inches. The High Roof raises that to about 77 inches, making shelves, tall cargo and working inside the van easier.

The Super High Roof mainly adds vertical workspace. Newer High Roof vans provide about 77 inches of cargo height, while the Super High Roof reaches roughly 86 inches. The taller body better suits high shelving, bulky equipment and mobile-workspace builds.

They refer to wheelbase, which is the distance between the front and rear axles. In the newer lineup, the 118-inch van has an 8-foot cargo floor, the 136-inch body has 10 feet, and regular 159-inch versions provide 12 feet.

The Extended body adds cargo floor behind the rear axle. In newer 3500 high-roof vans, a regular 159-inch body has a 12-foot cargo floor, while the Extended version stretches that to 13 feet. The tradeoff is a longer van to maneuver and park.

In the newer gas lineup, the 3500 Super High Roof Extended is the maximum-space body. It combines a 13-foot cargo floor with up to about 86 inches of interior height. Tradesman, SLT and SLT+ versions mainly differ in cabin and driver-assistance equipment.

A newer Tradesman High Roof or Super High Roof is the straightforward blank canvas. Tradesman keeps the cabin simple while retaining phone-friendly infotainment and core crash-avoidance features, leaving the body size and interior upfit as the main priorities.

A newer SLT is the practical middle choice for long days behind the wheel. It adds adaptive cruise control, heated folding mirrors, better exterior lighting and remote start. Move to SLT+ when blind-spot monitoring and parking assistance matter too.

No, not when the body configuration stays the same. Cargo room comes from the wheelbase, roof height and whether the body is Extended. Tradesman, SLT and SLT+ mainly change the screen, lighting, mirrors, convenience equipment and driver-assistance features.
