In recent years, the base Cayenne is the straightforward entry to the lineup. It uses a 348-hp turbo V6, an eight-speed automatic, all-wheel drive, adaptive suspension dampers, LED headlights, and a digital dashboard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

Since the 2024 refresh, the S mainly adds a 468-hp twin-turbo V8 in place of the base model’s 348-hp turbo V6. It delivers stronger acceleration, a more noticeable exhaust sound, and quicker response while keeping the base model’s broad everyday character.

On newer models, both use twin-turbo V8 power, but the GTS is the sharper road-focused version. It raises output from 468 to 493 hp and adds lowered adaptive air suspension, rear torque management, a sport exhaust, darker styling, and a sportier cabin.

The Cayenne S is the broader-use V8 choice in the refreshed lineup. It provides 468 hp and the sound and response of a twin-turbo V8 without the GTS model’s lowered air suspension and sport-focused hardware or the Turbo GT’s specialized setup.

Platinum Edition models from 2014–2023 are style-and-equipment packages rather than a separate performance category. Equipment varies by era, but the theme is distinctive exterior accents plus bundled comfort, lighting, audio, roof, and parking features.
