Mitsubishi Mirage G4
In a world of ever-larger and more complex cars, the Mirage G4 is something of a throwback. The simple little Mitsubishi may not have an abundance of space, power, or features, but those deficits help it to be one of the most affordable sedans on the market. They also keep it lightweight, nimble, and fuel-efficient, which are some of the attributes that Mirage G4 owners say they appreciate most about it. On the downside, its small fuel-sipping engine can feel sluggish and unrefined at times, and it offers little in the way of advanced safety features.

Mitsubishi Mirage G4 Model Lineup
The Mirage G4 is a subcompact sedan with room for up to five passengers. Mitsubishi also makes a hatchback version, known simply as the Mirage, which is reviewed separately. They’re the only non-SUV models in the Japanese automaker’s lineup.
Under the hood, the Mirage G4 utilizes a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 78 horsepower. On the base ES trim, it drives the front wheels via a standard five-speed manual transmission or an available continuously variable automatic (CVT). Higher trims get the CVT as standard equipment. No hybrid or electric variants of the Mirage G4 have been offered.
Mitsubishi builds the Mirage G4 in three main trims: the base ES, the mid-tier LE (which debuted in 2020), and the range-topping SE. Two special editions, the Carbonite Edition and the Black Edition, are also available and feature unique styling details. Standard equipment on the Mirage G4 is light but has been expanded over the years. A 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity and a rearview camera become standard in 2018. Cruise control and a height-adjustable driver’s seat were added in 2019. Keyless entry and automatic climate control joined the list in 2020, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and forward collision mitigation followed in 2021. Many of these features were available in prior years as options. Stepping up to the mid-level LE trim adds alloy wheels and an automatic transmission, while the top-of-the-line SE also gets keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, and (as of 2021) lane-departure warning.

Does not have very good climate control. Either to hot or too cold. Windows fog up a lot.

2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 ES Sedan
A good vehicle to get you from A to B, great fuel mileage, and doesn't break the bank buying new. A safe buy.

2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 ES Sedan
The fuel economy and reliability of the car are wonderful. You won't turn heads when you drive and it would be difficult to get a speeding ticket in a 3 cyl car. However, you will feel great about the savings each time you drive past a gas station. Also ignore you wife's teasing comments or buy specialty rims. Enjoy driving the car for the economic reasons that lead you to your purchase.
