Mercedes-Benz A-Class
While it shares many components with the Mercedes-Benz CLA, the A-Class strikes a more traditional sedan appearance compared to the coupe-like design of its sibling. It also offers much of the refinement and luxury you’d anticipate from the German automaker despite its pint-sized package. Specifically, it earns high marks from owners thanks to its upscale interior styling, overall athleticism, and generous list of standard and available features. Notable criticisms of the A-Class include its high running costs, lack of rear seat comfort, and scant cargo space.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Model Lineup
The A-Class is a subcompact luxury sedan with available seating for five. It’s the smallest traditional sedan in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, measuring roughly eight inches shorter than its compact sibling, the C-Class. A mainstay in Europe for decades, the A-Class didn’t make its debut in North America until the 2019 model year.
Under the hood, the A-Class utilizes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In the base-level A 220, it produces 188 horsepower, and in the performance-oriented AMG A 35, it churns out just over 300 ponies. All-wheel drive (denoted with 4Matic badging) is an available upgrade on the A 220 (otherwise, it’s front-wheel drive), and it comes standard on the AMG A 35. No hybrid or electric versions have yet been offered.
Standard features on the A-Class include a panoramic sunroof, a rearview camera, forward collision mitigation, and a 7.0-inch center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Blind-spot warning joined the standard-features list for 2021 (and was previously optional). Some notable options include leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a 10.3-inch touchscreen, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Many advanced safety features and driving aids are also optional, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera.

Great technical innovations great looking and ease of control. But the speakers are just fair and the Trunk should be automatic. (Mine isn't)

This vehicle is truly beautiful and such a delight to drive. It demands respect as soon as it hits the road. Truly wouldn't change anything about it. It screams top tier quality.

2019 Mercedes-Benz A220 AWD
The A 220 is a pleasure to drive and handle. The gas mileage isn't quite as good as the sticker indicates. Love the sporty look and drivability. The interior controls are advanced and highly intuitive but offer too many options for the same functions rendering the myriad of options for a single function times the number of controls offered to be confusing and overwhelming. Some of the interior details such as the location of the cup holders to the cord plugin for Apple play and the mousepad are too cramped and awkward. Overall, the A 220 is a powerful drive with a sporty design and a smart system at a good price point!
