INFINITI Q50
In 2014, Infiniti replaced its well-regarded G37 sport sedan with the all-new Q50. It caters to those who value a blend of performance and luxury, offering a smooth but nimble chassis and a range of robust engine options, including a potent twin-turbo V6. Owners particularly appreciate the Q50's comfortable cabin and easy-to-use infotainment system. However, some argue that its handling doesn't quite match that of its European rivals, which include the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4. Its fuel economy also lags behind the segment leaders. Nevertheless, the Q50 remains a compelling choice for anyone in the market for a well-rounded luxury sedan with a touch of performance flair.

INFINITI Q50 Model Lineup
The Q50 is a compact luxury sedan with seating for up to five passengers. It sits between the smaller Q30 crossover SUV and the larger Q70 sedan in the Infiniti lineup, and it shares a platform and some components with the Nissan 370Z sports car and the Infiniti Q60 coupe.
The Infiniti has offered the Q50 in various trims, including the base Pure, the mid-level Luxe, the performance-oriented Sport, and the range-topping Red Sport 400. The Pure offers a solid set of standard features, while the Luxe trim adds more luxury and convenience elements such as a moonroof and an upgraded audio system. The Sport enhances performance with a sport-tuned suspension, larger brakes, and more aggressive styling. The Red Sport 400, introduced in 2016, boasts even greater performance thanks to a more powerful engine and other upgrades.
The Q50 was introduced in 2014 with a 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 328 horsepower, along with a 3.5-liter V6 hybrid variant generating a combined output of 360 hp. In 2016, the lineup was updated with a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder offering 208 hp, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 in two states of tune (one with 300 hp and another with 400 hp), and a revised hybrid using the 3.5-liter V6. The hybrid option was discontinued in 2019. All versions employ a seven-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available as an option.
Notable tech and safety updates for the Q50 include the 2016 introduction of a dual-screen infotainment setup, featuring 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration was added as standard equipment in 2020. In 2018, Infiniti first offered its ProPilot Assist system, which combines adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. By 2021, most of these active safety features had become standard across all trim levels.
We recommend 2018 and later Q50 models due to their updated design, enhanced interior quality, and improved tech features. The Luxe trim offers a good balance of comfort and features, while the Red Sport 400 is ideal for those seeking performance-oriented driving dynamics.

Only 2 issues--seat controls are awfully difficult to reach with the door closed. And the microphone for the phone doesn't seem to work well. No one can hear me well when I'm speaking on the phone in the car when it's moving. Limits my phone use in the car.

Fix the infotainment system. It should be faster and have more audio apps (like Spotify and Pandora).

Two items I would appreciate in the vehicle: 1) Chime or auditory signal for unfastened seat belts 2)Ashtray up front for front seat occupants who smoke

Negative comments pertain to the infotainment system which is full of glitches and lack the processor power needed to adequately run applications. Also, I am unable to use applications while driving which makes the system pointless - I am forced to use my smartphone while driving (email, internet searches, etc.).

The voice recognition is AWFUL. The navigation system sometimes doesn't work well. I think it is all part of the voice recognition system.

I was told the car had heated side mirrors, it does not. I specifically asked about that since my last car had them. The nav system not user friendly. I hate it. The G37 had a much easier to use system. I also HATE the fact that the stereo etc. has to "load" upon start.
