Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger is a full-size sedan with room for up to five passengers. It has been part of Dodge's lineup since its reintroduction in 2006, with the most recent generation spanning from 2011 to the present. The Charger shares its platform and some components with the Dodge Challenger and the Chrysler 300.

The Charger is available in a range of trims, including the SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, and SRT Hellcat. The SXT and GT trims are the base and mid-level trims, offering a balance of performance, comfort, and affordability. The R/T, Scat Pack, and SRT Hellcat trims emphasize performance, with the latter two catering to hardcore enthusiasts.

A 3.6-liter V6 engine powers the SXT and GT trims, producing around 292 to 300 horsepower. The R/T trim features a 5.7-liter V8 engine with approximately 370 horsepower, while the Scat Pack gets a 6.4-liter V8 with 485 horsepower. In 2015, the Charger received an upgraded Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Available safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking.

We recommend 2015 and later Charger models for their balance of performance, comfort, and technology. Those seeking a comfortable daily driver should consider the SXT or GT trims with the 3.6-liter V6 engine. If performance is a priority, the R/T or Scat Pack trims with their respective HEMI V8 engines will be more suitable. The range-topping SRT Hellcat trim is best for those who desire the ultimate in performance; however, be prepared for higher fuel and insurance costs.
