Dodge Challenger SXT, R/T, Hellcat & More

In recent years, both use the 3.6-liter V6 and eight-speed automatic. The GT adds a more aggressive hood, stronger brakes, rear parking sensors and sportier cabin details. The SXT is the simpler everyday version.

The R/T’s defining upgrade is its 5.7-liter HEMI V8. On newer cars it also brings active performance exhaust, a functional hood scoop and V8 badging. The SXT keeps the V6 and is more focused on everyday use.

The R/T uses a 5.7-liter V8, while the R/T Scat Pack steps up to the stronger 6.4-liter 392 V8. In newer years, the Scat Pack also adds Brembo performance brakes, adjustable drive modes and launch-control tools.

On newer Challengers, the Scat Pack Widebody adds flared bodywork, larger six-piston front brakes and suspension that adjusts its firmness. It has the same 6.4-liter 392 V8 as the regular Scat Pack but offers a wider stance and more grip.

In the years when both were sold, they shared the 6.4-liter V8. The SRT 392 was the more fully equipped performance car, with larger front brakes, firmness-adjusting suspension, leather performance seats and upgraded audio. The Scat Pack used simpler hardware.

The Redeye is the higher-output Hellcat. In later years, the standard SRT Hellcat makes 717 horsepower, while the Redeye makes 797 horsepower and adds extra cooling hardware. Jailbreak versions raise output to 807 horsepower.

Widebody means the Hellcat has flared fenders and a wider, grip-focused setup. Later Hellcat Widebody models also use suspension that adjusts its firmness. The engine output depends on whether the car is a standard Hellcat, Redeye or Jailbreak.

The SRT Super Stock is the more drag-focused car. It uses an 807-horsepower supercharged V8, drag-tuned suspension, a shorter rear gearing setup and lightweight 18-inch drag wheels. The Redeye is the more street-focused high-output Hellcat.

Demon identifies the most extreme factory drag-focused Challengers. The original SRT Demon arrived for 2018 with dedicated launch and cooling hardware. The final Demon 170 went further, producing up to 1,025 horsepower on high-ethanol fuel.

A Shaker is a Challenger with a functional intake scoop mounted to the engine and exposed through the hood. It moves with the engine and adds a strong vintage muscle-car look. Dodge used it on both 5.7-liter R/T and 6.4-liter Scat Pack versions.

The T/A uses the 5.7-liter V8, while the T/A 392 pairs the same heritage styling with the stronger 6.4-liter V8 and larger front brakes. Both emphasize a satin-black hood, hood-fed intake and performance-focused suspension.

Jailbreak is a late-run Hellcat trim identity rather than a completely different kind of Challenger. Regular Hellcat Jailbreak cars retain 717 horsepower, while Redeye Jailbreak versions reach 807 horsepower. Widebody versions add the wider chassis setup.

They fill the same basic role in different eras. SE was the early V6 entry trim. Dodge shifted the base-car name to SXT for 2012, and later SXT models gained the newer 3.6-liter V6, updated cabin technology and, eventually, an eight-speed automatic.

The SXT is the straightforward daily-driver pick in newer lineups. Its V6, automatic transmission, phone integration and power driver’s seat cover everyday needs. The GT suits drivers who want the same basic V6 formula with a sportier look and stronger brakes.

Pick the R/T if V8 sound and classic muscle-car character matter more than maximum output. Pick the Scat Pack if you want the stronger 6.4-liter V8, upgraded brakes and launch tools. Both remain roomy coupes, but the Scat Pack is the more serious performance trim.

Yes. “SRT Super Sport” may appear in some used-car listings, but Dodge’s official trim name is SRT Super Stock. It is the 807-horsepower, drag-focused Widebody model with special suspension, gearing and launch hardware.
